I absolutely love taking pictures with my camera. It is fun to be creative and since I have a blog, I am always on the lookout for something cool to take a picture of, and to potentially blog about. I am sure I am not the only one who does that…positive in fact.
Some of my pictures turn out really good, and don’t need much editing except for maybe resizing. But many of my photos are failures of epic proportion. I have discovered one photo editing site that I really love – and it is really easy {apparently that is just what I need}. I have seen some fancy Multimedia Software programs online, but honestly I don’t know much about them. I do know, however, that as a blogger I need to be able to tweak my photos to make them pop – to darken or lighten photos, add cool effects, etc.
Do I need a digital picture editor? I am not sure what I need – seriously. For my birthday, I asked my husband to please get me a certain program that all the cool kids are using. It starts with a “P” and ends with “shop”. When I opened my present and found that he had bought this for me, I was ecstatic. I was anxious to dive in and fix up all of my photos. Well, it wasn’t quite as simple as I thought it would be. I tried and tried. There was yelling, screaming and possibly a tear or two, as I kept saying to myself, “I just don’t get it!”. This program is so confusing to me, and I have no idea how others seem to use it so effortlessly.
I finally ended up buying a book that teaches you visually {perfect for me – I am a visual learner}, and I still haven’t used it yet, but my hope is that as soon as I get caught up on a few things, I am going to sit down with my book, open up the dreaded photo editing software again and try my very best. With any luck, soon I will be showing you some fancy photos that I have edited with my newfound editing skills. Wish me luck!

Good luck! You should see if your local community college offers a class, it might help 🙂
That is not a bad idea – I have thought of doing that!
Like you, I am a visual learner. My husband and daughters just don’t get what my problem is when I have difficulties learning just like you did with the new toy you got. I’ve been suffering with a sewing/embroidery machine (several thousand dollars I paid for this baby) that I bought when I lived in Germany. A friend had one, and said she’d sit down with me and teach me how to use it. So I bought it. The store had to order it, and within 2 weeks after I took possession of the machine, she and her husband were leaving Germany and coming back to the USA. So I lost my “teacher”. I’m still struggling with the machine, and don’t get a lot of sewing or quilting done because of my lack of knowledge. And forget the embroidery part! Don’t you wish you could just snap your fingers and voila’, the knowledge is there? Good luck with your new toy…eventully you’ll get it. Why don’t you call in the 6 and 7 year olds down the street? I’m sure they can handle it just fine. Don’t you just envy kids like that?
ROFL – that is SO true! I usually have to have my daughter show me how to do stuff! I wish I learned certain things a little more easily. It’s like I get a mental block and then I cannot learn it! I’m sorry about your sewing teacher 🙁
I love my photo editing software. I mainly use Paintshop Pro but I use Photoshop also and Lightroom. There are a lot of step by step tutorials with photos online that have helped me tremendously. Warning though, it can become very addicting!
Good to know – thank you!
