How many of you are excited to finally be able to experience the wonder, to discover the unforgettable? Can you feel those impact tremors? Is your heart racing? What’s that tapping noise? Can you stay perfectly still to avoid being seen? Would you survive the amazement, the spectacle, the thrill, the fear, and the extraordinary legacy that is Jurassic World?
T-rex doesn’t want to be fed. He wants to hunt.
Much like the king of the dinosaurs, we wanted more. We sought more. My son even politely asked the “Mr. Dinosaur Man” for more. Through the years, each time a new film was released thus continuing the much-loved story of Jurassic Park, folks around the world flocked to movie theaters with the same joy and enthusiasm of a kid in a candy store. For the past fourteen years, however, that thrill had escaped us. For each of the previous three movies in the Jurassic Park series, a span of four years between one and the next left us wondering, hoping, and dying for more. And each time that day finally came, again, we wanted more. It has now been fourteen years since the last of the movies was released and I’m sure that I joined many in thinking that the story had ended as a trilogy. However, in that time span, I welcomed some amazing little ones into this world and they, too, have grown to love the story that Steven Spielberg and Michael Crichton brought to life. Their own admiration for the movies has sparked that fire within me once more and, together, we now enjoy letting our imaginations roam free like the very dinosaurs that once inhabited the Earth.
Up until now, we were relatively content with what the world of Jurassic Park had offered us. Between the trio of movies, the now “vintage” (am I really that old already?!) merchandise, the real-life theme park location, and so much more, Jurassic Park was as much a part of our life as it was for Dr. Grant, Lex, Timmy, and the whole gang… minus the whole being hunted thing of course.
The water is shaking, the tapping sound is getting closer, the leaves are rustling, the thuds are getting louder, and the roars are back.
Stop with me for a moment. Envision the ending scene of the very first Jurassic Park movie. As they’re flying away to safety on that helicopter ride off of the island, they saw something flying alongside them. Now, whether or not it was intended as such, that scene always stuck with me as the symbolism which hinted at the idea of more. The “more” that we’ve craved was so much bigger than just Jurassic Park.
Life breaks free; it expands to new territories and crashes through barriers, painfully, maybe even dangerously. I’m simply saying that life… finds a way.
What once started out as a park has now become Jurassic World.
Officially in theaters today, the much-anticipated continuation of the Jurassic Park story is finally here! Take a look:
Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. After 10 years of operation and visitor rates declining, in order to fulfill a corporate mandate, a new attraction is created to re-spark visitor’s interest, which backfires horribly.
Now, I don’t know about you but my family has been in dino mode since initially finding out about this film’s impending release. These past few weeks have kicked that dinosaur joy into overdrive and, now that the day has finally come, the sheer excitement is overwhelming. We cannot wait to be able to see the movie in theaters this weekend and I certainly hope that you’ll join us for all of the fun that is to be had.

Speaking of new product releases, one of the kids’ favorite parts of any new movie is the great merchandise that coincides (hence the reason for that toddler penned letter). Jurassic World, of course, follows suit and brings fans everywhere an incredible array of fabulous new goodies. I’ve shared a few of those here with you over the past week but one of my favorites is definitely the Jurassic World collaboration with LEGO. To accompany the movie’s release (in theaters today!) is the all new LEGO Jurassic World videogame!
Following the epic storylines of Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and Jurassic Park III, as well as the highly anticipated Jurassic World, LEGO Jurassic World is the first videogame where players will be able to relive and experience all four Jurassic films. Reimagined in LEGO form and told in TT Games’ signature classic LEGO humor, the thrilling adventure recreates unforgettable scenes and action sequences from the films, allowing fans to play through key moments and giving them the opportunity to fully explore the expansive grounds of Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna.
