I’ve been a Key Ingredient member for several years. That’s where I stash both my experimental recipes and coveted recipes handed down from my mom and grandma. Even today, I add my primal and paleo recipes to my hoard. I love having them all in one spot; allowing me to pull them up easily, print, or share. I’ve wanted a Key Ingredient Recipe Reader for years, {just ask The Mister} so I seriously did a jig when I learned that Key Ingredient would be sending me one to check out![*]
Create. Collect. Cook!
One thing that comes from having a love of cooking is the potential of having more cookbooks than I have room for! When we moved to this house, The Mister and I went through our {yes, he had some too!} cookbooks and added our favorite recipes to my Key Ingredient stash {with due credit, of course}. A necessary cookbook purge that brought us from over 30 cookbooks on the shelf down to just a handful of favorites {two of which are autographed and I will *never* part with} and cookbooks that reflect our paleo & primal food-style. Not only have I minimized cookbook clutter, but thanks to the Key Ingredient Recipe Reader I still have access to those recipes as well as the entire Key Ingredient shareable collection {over 1.5 million recipes}!!

Don’t Burn The Bacon.
Whether you’re cooking a feast for your family or multi-tasking like a boss, this Recipe Reader is equipped with three simultaneous timers to help keep you on top of things in the kitchen. Set one for the simmering cherry barbecue sauce, another for the pork belly in the smoker, and the last one to remind you to take a shower before your company arrives. Okay, maybe that’s just me…

So Easy, My Mom Can Use It.
No, really. With the large keyboard, font size options, and straight forward navigation – even a tech novice would be able to use the Recipe Reader. The hardest part I’ve had so far is waiting {im}patiently for it to sync my Key Ingredient account so I could start using it.

Kitchen Safe = No Sticky Pages.
How many times have you opened a cookbook to find pages stuck together? Presumably the most used recipe pages are the ones that get splattered on, albeit lovingly… With the Recipe Reader I simply wipe away smudges or splatters from the sealed glass touch-screen!
Even More Functional Features
The Key Ingredient Recipe Reader lets me stand it upright or lay it down, whichever I prefer or need while I do my food prep! The screen rotates as needed. It features a handy planner that lets me quickly choose meal planning recipes. There is also a substitution tool and a conversion calculator – which are so helpful!

Bridging Generation Gaps In The Kitchen
As a child – even as a teen – I remember watching with wonder and awe as my Grandma cooked in her kitchen. She had a humble confidence about her that I admired and the food she made was SO delicious!! Last year, I sifted through many of her recipes and stored them on Key Ingredient so I can share them with my kids. One of them being a pickle recipe that happens to be the foundation/inspiration for the Garlic Dill pickle recipe I use now.
Last weekend, my niece Chey asked me to teach her about homecanning. I was honored that she asked me and knew we’d have a blast together. After we got back from the farmers market we turned on some music, cranked the air conditioner, pulled up my recipe on the Recipe Reader, and got to work!

We worked in harmony; she stuffed the jars while I filled them with the brine, just as she moved over to wipe the rims, I was close behind putting on the lids and rings. We had a rhythm down! Together, we made Garlic Dill pickles that Grandma would be proud of and an experimental batch of Wasabi Garlic Dill pickles. I told her that I’d love to have her down again in autumn to “put up” some applesauce together, too. 🙂
