KIDDE WORRY-FREE SMOKE ALARM

In light of the scorching west coast this year, fire safety has become more important than ever to California residents. While measures are being taken to reduce water intake and remove fire hazards, many are unaware of the recent changes in smoke alarm legislation.
As of July 1, 2015, replaceable battery operated smoke and carbon monoxide alarms will no longer be sold in California. Instead, the alarms sold under the approval of the state fire marshal must have a sealed battery that must last for 10 years. The National Fire Protection Agency, the standard of fire safety, states that 60% of all deaths related to fire occurred in homes that did not have a smoke alarm or in which the alarm did not work. The most common cause of alarms not working has been missing or dead batteries. While replacing the batteries may seem like such common sense, many people simply forget to replace them.

What if I told you that there is a smoke alarm that will last for 10 years, without having to replace batteries? Yes, it is true. I just discovered this myself, and I couldn’t be happier.

For all my Californian readers, this new law is incredibly important in helping to protect your home and family from the wildfires running rampant this year. Below are more resources to help with fire prevention and proper smoke detector use.

One (1) reader will receive a bedroom smoke alarm with voice alert.
