Celebrate a Decade with the daisy fuentes Collection at Kohl’s – Review

Someone once said that there’s something special about Jersey girls, that they have an inner glow of sorts. As a good ol’ Jersey girl myself, I can attest to this. Maybe it’s drive, maybe it’s heart, maybe it’s spirit, or maybe it’s all of the above. No one can quite put a finger on exactly what it is but it’s good. No, it’s great. There’s just this little something. And, once we find it within ourselves, the whole world is at our fingertips. It is what we do with it from there that makes this story worthwhile.

I was introduced to her ages ago when she shook things up and kicked open the doors on MTV (yes, back when they actually played music) and, from there, I remember her hosting her very own talk show and even introducing some of the funniest videos I’ve ever seen – pun intended. Now, she’s taken her life out of the limelight a bit and brought that little something right to our own backyards.

Any guesses yet?

Of course, I’m talking about none other than the gorgeous Ms. Daisy Fuentes!

After making waves and carving a path all her own, this Jersey girl worked her way from being the first ever MTV Latina VJ to now having blossomed into a wonderfully talented designer. Yes, designer. For those of you that are not familiar with her or her line, she is the woman behind the daisy fuentes line at Kohl’s.

After launching the daisy fuentes collection back in 2004, her business and fan base has grown tremendously. And, now, as she celebrates her decade long partnership with Kohl’s, I’d like to take some time to share that with you.

Now, my own Jersey girl something has never been having an incredibly keen fashion sense. However, shortly after making the decision to do the majority of our shopping at Kohl’s, the daisy fuentes collection quickly became a frequented favorite. With plenty of pieces, styles, designs, sizes, and fabric options to choose from, there is certainly something to be found for everyone. I love how versatile all of the items are as well!

It’s no secret that I’m a bit more of a low key, down to Earth, play in the mud with kiddos kind of woman so laid back looks are much more my style. Give me a good pair of jeans and a good top and I’m set. One of my favorite aspects of the daisy fuentes line is that even “laid back” is a bit dressed up. It takes my cliché “mom of boys” look to a whole new fancy level. Just take a look at some of my favorite new outfits!

This one is just about as simple as it gets. I picked up the daisy fuentes Bootcut Jeans and a classic-styled, short-sleeved daisy fuentes Favorite Tee, in white. Throw this on, add a reliable pair of kicks, and you’re set to go for the day. These slightly faded jeans feature an amazingly comfortable stretchy denim construction that allows for plenty of play and chasing after little ones.

Since the weather here has been so back and forth lately, my closet is still full of clothes for just about every season. One day it’s a bright, sunshiny day and, the next, we’re caught in the middle of a snow storm. That being said, some days, a good ol’ short sleeved shirt just won’t cut it. So, keeping in the same classically cute fashion, you can also pair the daisy fuentes Bootcut Jeans with a sweet but simple, long-sleeved daisy fuentes Favorite Tee, in white. This way, no matter what the weather decides to do, you’ll be all set regardless.

If you’re not too keen on the minimalist style shown above, another great thing about the daisy fuentes line is that there are a plethora of great layering items. Once again, keeping the casual look of the Bootcut Jeans, you can gussy up your look with the daisy fuentes Slubbed Burnout Pullover. Available in Sea Salt white, Onyx black, and Haze gray, I chose the latter of the three personally. Not too dark and not too light made for a great middle ground here.

Okay, now we’ll get a little bit fancy for our fourth outfit choice. Still sticking with the kicked back style of the daisy fuentes Bootcut Jeans, we’ll dress it up with a cute little number on top. The daisy fuentes Striped Slubbed Roll-Tab Shirt features various shades of gray with a pop of bright blue for some added pizzazz. I love that, with this top (much like the jeans) it is quite versatile in that you can wear it, both, as is or leave it open and layer over a tank, camisole, or t-shirt.

Still utilizing the same daisy fuentes Bootcut Jeans, we can get a bit more dolled up while, simultaneously, keeping things comfortably relaxed. Quite similar to the previous outfit choice, the daisy fuentes Slubbed Roll-Tab Shirt can be worn, both, open or fully buttoned. This is available in Natural and Dusty Lavender color options but, for now, I chose the Natural coloring. Since we’ve gradually gotten a bit fancier as the list has gone on, I think its best that we leave this one as is for portrayal purposes.

It really is an outstanding brand that offers incredible clothing options for a wide range of shapes and sizes – petite all the way through plus size – and I love that it really does feature a little something for everyone.
