Head Back-to-School with Kohl’s and OfficeMax – Review

It’s back-to-school time! Now, while the usual team complaints or team cheers is decided upon by the back of going back to school itself, the tables quickly turn when it comes time for back-to-school shopping. Of course, the kids are thrilled to get new clothes, supplies, and goodies but we parent’s aren’t exactly too fond of the price tag that coincides. While I may always be on the lookout for great deals and big sales, one thing that drives me bonkers is having to constantly visit multiple stores in order to get everything that my children need for the start of the new school year. Clothing at one store, shoes at another, supplies and writing utensils at yet another. I almost spend more in gas for our vehicle than I do on the back-to-school purchases. As much as I wished I could find everything that we needed in one convenient location, unfortunately, that has not been the case… until now.

Please allow me to introduce you, once more, to one of my most favorite stores around – Kohl’s.

I shop Kohl’s for just about everything and we’re there so often that the kids have dubbed it “Mommy’s store.” Now that the back-to-school season is upon us, Kohl’s is, of course, my #1 stop. Already being the place to go for the kids’ back-to-school clothing needs and even smaller things such as backpacks and footwear, I really didn’t think that Kohl’s could get any better. To my surprise, they’ve gone and outdone themselves once again. You see, not only can I get all of the usual items but now I can also pick up the basic classroom supplies, too!

This year, Kohl’s has partnered with OfficeMax to truly provide parents everywhere with the one-stop-shop that we’ve all been dreaming of come back-to-school season.

As I’m sure many of you know, one of the biggest expenses of back-to-school shopping is found within the school items themselves – notebooks, pencils, pens, composition books, pencil cases, markers, glue, etc. Previously, these items were the ones that had me driving from store to store. Office stores, big box stores, the works, I’m always trying to find the best deals. Thankfully, with Kohl’s, I no longer have to bounce between multiple stores. Their new partnership with the OfficeMax line of products means that I can get everything that I need in one convenient location.

We haven’t gotten this year’s school supply list for our children just yet but we picked up some of the usual classroom necessities on a recent shopping trip for back-to-school apparel. Armed with a mock list, we hit the isles of our local Kohl’s store and loaded up on goodies for the upcoming school year. Here’s a sample list for you to use:

Grades K through 5:

o  Colored markers

o   Crayons

o   Colored pencils

o   Glue and/or glue sticks

o   No. 2 pencils

o   Pencil erasers

o   Pencil sharpener

o   Black/blue pens

o   Student scissors

o   Two-pocket folders

o   Highlighters

o   Ruler

o   Compass

o   Basic calculator

o   Pencil case

o   Notebooks

o   Backpack

Grades 6 through 12:

o   All of the above

o   3-ring binder(s)

o   Lined notebook paper

o   Protractor

o   Red pens

o   Notecards

o   Composition books

o   Planner

o   Scientific calculator

o   Locker organizers

With our kids being relatively young, we don’t need all too much but we were sure to let them each pick out a few of the items that are sure to be on their individual lists. Just take a look at some of the great finds!

Kohl's and OfficeMax Back-to-School

As if it couldn’t get any better, I love the way that Kohl’s had their OfficeMax products set out around the store. Instead of featuring one section loaded with nothing but supplies, there were little stands set around the store with a handful of items in each.

This made it so much easier when shopping with the children in tow. We were able to roam the store picking out clothes for each child in various locations and, on our way from one section to another, these stands were like quick little back-to-school pit-stops if you will. Grab a few outfits, stock up on supplies, pick out a few more outfits, and choose a few more supplies. It made back-to-school shopping an enjoyable experience as opposed to a dreaded one.

Kohl's and OfficeMax Back-to-School

While our own back-to-school shopping isn’t quite finished just yet, I know exactly where we will be headed as soon as the kids’ supply lists come in – Kohl’s.

OfficeMax and Kohl’s department stores are partnering to offer shoppers select school supplies in Kohl’s stores nationwide, making it easy and convenient for parents and students to get what they need this back-to-school season.

Buy:
You can purchase all of your back-to-school needs from Kohl’s both online and in-stores nationwide. The new OfficeMax products are available in-store only and can be found at one of Kohl’s 1,100+ retail locations across the country.

The kids and I are thrilled with how our back-to-school shopping has gone thus far and I’m looking forward to our next Kohl’s trip to stock up on more great items including those from the great OfficeMax collection.
