Dabble in Home Decor from Kohl’s this Spring – Review

Kohl's Pink Logo

The snow is melting! Please don’t remind me that there’s more in the upcoming forecast. For now, it’s all sunshine and rainbows and over the moon happiness about the next few days of relatively seasonable weather. Oh, spring, how I’ve missed you!

As horribly cold as the weather has been with this polar vortex and wonky back and forth of temperatures, springtime really is finally here! And I am so ready for it. I’m ready for the warmth, the longer days, enjoying the outdoors, letting the sweet, fresh air breeze through our home; I’m ready for all of it. Of course, with the nicer weather on the horizon comes the fun of family get togethers, yard sales, celebrations, backyard barbeques, and more. Now, when you’re planning for all of that excitement, you obviously want your home to be in tip-top shape. With all of the fun to come, once the weather breaks, we tend to kick ourselves into high gear in order to prep for the good times to be had. And that folks, is spring cleaning at its finest.

While I already have a majority of our interiors’ organizational tasks completed, the “making it pretty” aspect still lies before me. Having only just moved in not too long ago, we’re still working on making this house our home. Cute home décor items get picked up from time to time but there was and is still plenty that needs to be done. However, shopping for decorative items on a new-home-owner kind of budget is much easier said than done. To put it simply, I’ve gotten really good at bargain shopping. My favorite place…?

Yes, Kohl’s!

It’s no secret that I shop Kohl’s on a regular basis and for good reasoning at that. However, for the longest time, I only shopped the front half of our local store – clothing. Regardless of who I was shopping for or for what type of occasion, they had it all. From your basic everyday t-shirts and back-to-school goodies to cold weather wear and even dress wear, Kohl’s was (and is) my go-to store for the whole family. It was only recently that I finally ventured into the home department and… wow! What’s not to love?!

Kohl's Comforts of Home

For this year’s spring cleaning chaos, you can bet that Kohl’s is exactly where I went. You can check out some of my previous home organization purchases and tips here. For now, though, can we talk a little about how amazing their home décor options and products are? Seriously, I was like a kid in a candy store while browsing through all of the goodies that Kohl’s has, both, in-store and online. The art pieces, the decorative items, the soft blankets, oh my! Just take a look at some of my great home buys from Kohl’s!

Kohl's Pillow Collage

When we purchased our couch just after moving in, it came complete with three decorative pillows. As much as I loved the couch itself, I could not stand the pillows. Our room’s décor has a bit of a combination beachy-country vibe with lots of blues and tans but the included pillows were this hideous olive and maroon. For the longest time, I had them all on the couch backward (the backside was solid brown) so that the odd mix of wrong colors wouldn’t ruin my otherwise cute space. Problem number two, they were horridly uncomfortable. Now, normally, I wouldn’t splurge on something as trivial as pillows but after catching a great sale price at Kohl’s, I caved. And, boy, am I glad that I did!

Kohl's Brentwood Pillows

I ended up filling every corner of our sectional with incredibly comfortable pillows and I, truly, cannot say enough about them. Here are the ones that we picked up:

The Brentwood Faux-Suede Decorative Pillows and Poufs are just about the comfiest pillow that I have ever (and yes, I really mean EVER!) rested on. The faux-suede microfiber covering is extremely soft and the interior stuffing has just the right amount of comfortable give while still bouncing back the second you lift your head. Available in a plethora of color options and with matching companions of different sizes (we opted for the heavyweight box size) , these luxurious pillows will surely dress up your home’s décor in a heartbeat. I love them so much that I’m actually planning to get the additional sizes to further cover the couch as well as outfit the rest of our home. From the living room and bedrooms to the guest room and even the office, soon enough, you will be able to find this whole collection throughout our house. These pillows really are THAT marvelous!

Another adorable set of pillows that I picked up were a pair of the Fieldstone Decorative Pillows.

Kohl's Fieldstone Pillow

This particular pillow jumped out at me almost instantaneously. I love how the stripes subtly include a variety of shades within each of the featured colors. Adding these pillows to our room’s décor allowed us to completely encompass the main theme into one solitary item. Setting the pair on top of our dark, solid brown couch makes them and the colors pop. Initially, the only reservation that I had was the texture. Since I was shopping online for this particular item, the knitted look of the pillows threw me off a bit. While it appears to have a slightly rough texture, that assumption couldn’t be any further from the truth. Despite its woven exterior, this pillow is remarkably soft and will surely be a great, stylish addition to your home.

Now, to complete the look, I absolutely had to add this adorable sweet decorative pillow to the mix just to give it that final pop. And the Wordsmithing “Live Laugh Love” Decorative Pillow did just that.

Kohl's Wordsmithing Pillow

Bringing in the same color scheme as the rest of our room while simultaneously showcasing one of life’s simplest yet most important bit of advice, this pillow is a must have for any home. Not only is it a sweet little place to lay your head or rest on but it is a constant reminder to do exactly what it says – Live. Laugh. Love.

The couch area, full with colorful additions (that match!) and a sweet little saying, is finally complete!

Onto the next room…

At the back of our house, we have beautiful sliding glass doors. As much as I love being able to enjoy the view and let the bright sunshiny warmth fill our home during the day, when night falls, I’m not too fond of having a wall of glass to be easily seen though.

Bare Door

We had just recently finished painting the walls in this room and, subsequently, updating the light fixture. This wall, and this door, left so bare… it just didn’t sit right with me and something, for sure, needed to be done. Introducing, my Kohl’s solution – the Home Classics Max Adjustable Curtain Rod and a pair of the SONOMA life + style Alton Window Panels.

Kohl's Curtain Rod

This pristine curtain rod is available in two different sizes, both of which are adjustable in regard to length. All mounting hardware is included and install is an absolute breeze. It took less than five minutes to get the entire thing mounted and ready to go. Available in two colors, pewter and black, we opted for the latter of the two. The dark coloring and its simple yet elegant design stands out while mounted on our light colored wall. We chose to pair it with a stunning set of grommet curtains in a contrasting color.

Kohl's Curtains

The curtains that we chose come in five different color options and three sizing choices. I chose these particular curtains due to their timeless design and durability. The soft cotton blend and the simple fact that they are machine washable (a huge plus for families with children and pets!) had me sold. We chose the natural color option and, though it looks to be a bit on the white side, in my opinion, it is a bit closer to the tan shade. That being said, I love how the end result came out. This room, too, finally looks complete now thanks to Kohl’s.

Last, but certainly not least, I picked up this endearing picture frame to show off our boys, of course! The SONOMA life + style “Wild Things” 4×6-inch Frame is the epitome of picture frames for just about any home with children.

Kohl's Photo Frame

Picking up on the wildly popular (pun intended) children’s book and movie “Where the Wild Things Are,” this super cute frame is perfect for your own wild little bunch. While the frame, overall, may be 8×10-inches, the opening for a display photo is a standard 4×6-inch size. The kids and I absolutely love this frame and, like many products you will find at Kohl’s, it would make a stellar addition to your home this spring.

I am beyond ecstatic with all of the wonderful finds that I gathered from Kohl’s and, better yet, look at how much I saved in doing so!

It has been a wondrous experience finally venturing into the home department there at Kohl’s and I am so incredibly grateful that I did so. I look forward to being able to now shop the rest of the collection over the course of spring, into summer, and of course, for the rest of my life quite obviously. Here are just a few of the great pieces that I’d love to soon get:

For the family room, the DHI Enzo Accent Chair.

For the entryway, the Hall Tree with Storage Bench.

For the office, the Sauder Registry Row Desk.

For the patio, the KidKraft Striped Outdoor Table & Bench Set.

For the bedroom, and an added springtime wink of pink, the LC Lauren Conrad Ella Bedding Coordinates.

And, trust me, the list continues on and on from there.

  19. About a year ago, I got a Kohls card when getting my daughter a summer wardrobe at Kohls. I always loved shopping there until I developed a love for Target and TJMaxx. Since then, I must be honest, my Kohls charge has been collecting dust. I am not sure what it is, but I feel like their prices are just a wee bit too high. I have seen a few things recently there that I liked, and maybe this blog will push me back in there again. I wish they would, however, even come down on prices by like 5%…love the curtains above though. 🙂
