“I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Lutron. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.”
A friend of ours visited our new house today. She walked into our dining room earlier this evening and was surprised to see that the light turned on for her.
Now, as many of you know, we have had our Lutron lighting installed for about a month or so. The light automatically turning itself on and off has become expected and almost second nature for us at this point. With little ones in our home, it has been great not having to worry about whether or not they’ve left the lights on, too. Not only do our Lutron Maestro Occupancy/Vacancy Sensors turn themselves on, but after it detects no motion within the room, it will turn the lights off as well!
The kids, of course, are quite forgetful when it comes to turning off lights that they’ve turned on but I cannot place all of the blame on them. Surely, I’ve asked the question “Who left the lights on?” one too many times in our home but we, too, are guilty of the same forgetfulness and is has cost us – literally. We are pretty good with trying to do our best when it comes to saving energy. However, with lighting being a bit of a necessity, saving energy (and money) there can be a bit difficult. We’ve always used energy efficient bulbs but, still, lighting in your home can account for up to twenty percent of your yearly electricity usage and the bills coincide. Obviously, keeping the lights turned off will save you on energy costs, but did you know that dimming them can save you a good chunk of change as well?
Simply replacing a single light switch in your home to a Lutron Maestro Occupancy/Vacancy Sensor could potentially save you up to $30 per year on your energy costs. Now, once you tie in multiple switches and the combination of Lutron Maestro Occupancy/Vacancy Sensors and Dimmers, you could save yourself boatloads of cash. Wouldn’t that be nice?!
In addition to saving energy and related costs, installing Lutron Maestro Occupancy/Vacancy Sensors within your home is also super convenient. Think about it. How great would it be if you came home with your arms full of shopping bags and instead of having to search for the light switch in the dark, the lights turned on for you? Not having to worry about whether or not your children left the lights on would be pretty nice, too, eh? The added convenience of Lutron Maestro Occupancy Sensors has been a great experience here.
I will admit that it has taken some getting used to but we absolutely love our new Lutron Maestro Occupancy/Vacancy Sensors. They have already saved us a good amount of money as well as peace of mind.
We installed ours in our dining room and at the top of our stairway. With the dining room being at the center of our home, this is one room in which the lights get left on most frequently. Before installing our Lutron Maestro Occupancy Sensor Dimmer, we would pass thorough on our way to another room and often leave the light on in the process. Most of the time, we would exit in the opposite direction, forgetting to flip the switch off in the dining room. Since installing our new Maestro Occupancy Sensor Dimmer, the light gets left on a lot less often and if we do happen to forget it, it will turn itself off. Having the dimmer option has also been great feature for mealtime. The placement for installation of our Lutron Maestro Occupancy Sensor Switch was based more on the kids. There are a lot of middle of the night potty breaks in our house and with both of our little ones being a bit out of reach of the light switch here, we thought that this would be the most convenient spot for them. Now, instead of having to sleepily attempt to turn on the light with the very real possibility of tumbling down the stairs, the walk to the bathroom is much easier with a light that turns itself on. This has been a lifesaver here – quite literally for the children and in peace of mind for Mommy and Daddy.
