We all have things that need to be kept safe, either from children (little ones for safety reasons, or teenagers because they always take my stuff!). Of course there just some things that are personal and that nobody else needs to know about.

The problem is that most safes are so big and cumbersome. My husband has a small safe for his things, but I wanted something of my own. Since we lack space in this house, a large safe in our bedroom is just not an option. Imagine my delight when MasterLock sent me the SafeSpace portable safe for review*! This was exactly what I had been looking for, but didn’t know it existed.

When it arrived, I might have jumped up and down (shhh – don’t tell anybody). Yes, I was that excited! I finally had a place to put my important things. Why was I so excited? Check out the features of the MasterLock SafeSpace:

  • Lightweight & Portable. Protects MP3 players, cell phones, cameras, gaming devices, cash, credit cards, jewelry, keys, passports, sunglasses or other small valuables
  • Lock Up & Lock Down. Lock up valuables with the cable wrapped tightly to the safe or wrapped securely around a fixed object. Cable doubles as a carrying handle
  • Durable Water-Resistant Construction
  • Set-Your-Own-Combination for locking convenience
  • Ear Bud/Charging Cable Access Port
  • Shock absorbing foam lines the interior storage area

I have never had much luck with padlocks or combination locks, so honestly I was a little nervous to try this. I always have a fear of putting important things in a safe with a combination lock and not being able to open it back up. I practiced a time or two with this one and it works beautifully. I created a 4-digit number and followed the instructions to set it up. It couldn’t have been easier.

Let’s talk about size. The MasterLock SafeSpace is not that big, but it sure does hold a lot. For comparison purposes, I set it next to our television remote. It can easily be tucked away in a drawer, closet, cabinet or under the bed.

I think one great reason to have this safe (if for no other), is to keep medications safely hidden away. As I mentioned above, little hands seem to find everything they shouldn’t find, and it would be horrible for them to get ahold of an adult medication. Why not keep them locked in the SafeSpace? Jewelry is another item that fits nicely in this safe, and if you travel a lot, this is an ideal way to bring your jewelry with you and not have to worry.

You can even use the cable to attach the safe to something else. The cable is also a convenient handle. They really thought of everything!

The Master Lock SafeSpace is quite durable and I know I will be using it for years to come.  I think this would be a fantastic Christmas gift idea for friends and family, as everyone needs a safe place for their stuff!

  1. I’m not great with combinations either, this looks like it’d be perfect for me. And then I could squirrel away the most important items and actually know where I stashed them!
