Oh the memories that came flooding back when I was asked to do a review of the Mastermind Board Game. It is one of the classic board games I remember from my childhood. I absolutely loved this game when I was young, and was anxious to play it with my daughter to see if she felt the same.
We set up Mastermind (very easy!) with the colorful pegs and started playing pretty quickly after it arrived. If you haven’t played Mastermind before, here is a quick explanation: The Codemaker makes a secret “code” of colors with the colored pegs (which is hidden behind the shield), and your opponent (the “Codebreaker”) has to use the colored pegs to try to match the color code you have hidden. The object is to solve your opponent’s code in fewer turns that it takes your opponent to solve your code. The red and white pegs included in the game help you keep track of color pegs that are in the right position and right color or the right color, wrong position.
We had a blast playing this – she won the most out of several games (I think it might be due to my age LOL). Mastermind makes you think, but in a really fun way. I think a few more games with her and I’ll have her beat!

ARE YOU A MASTERMIND?
It’s the code maker vs the codebreaker in this classic board game of logic and deduction.
In order to win, players must use strategy and problem solving skills to outsmart their opponent. One player is the codemaker and sets a code of colored pegs. The other player is the codebreaker and attempts to break the code with help from clues given by the codemaker.
Players take turns being codemaker and codebreaker and whoever breaks the code in the least amount of moves wins!
Mastermind is for 2 Players. Ages 8 to adult. Mastermind is made by Pressman.
I haven’t yet played this with my husband, but I am hoping I can challenge him to a game (or 10!) this weekend. It should be very interesting!
There are several editions of Mastermind, including a Travel Edition. I think this would be so much fun to take on road trips. Also available are the Advanced Mastermind and Mastermind for Kids.
