I have shared my thoughts on my new Maytag appliances (which I happen to be in love with), but there are a couple that I haven’t really talked about, yet I’m not sure how I lived without them (I think I say this about each appliance, but I digress).
Maytag Over-the-Range Microwave:
My new microwave is beautiful. But there is more to being good-looking. An appliance needs to really show me what its got if it wants to be in my kitchen – especially the microwave! The Maytag over-range-microwave delivers is a powerful machine which delivers 1,000 watts of cooking power and it cooks food evenly. This is true even in cookware as large as 10” x 15”!
When I first looked inside my microwave oven, I saw a rectangular glass try instead of a circle one. I was kind of disappointed that it didn’t have a carousel UNTIL I discovered that it actually moves! Instead of going around in a circle, the WideGlide tray moves back and forth. It is actually pretty fun to watch.
Although I haven’t tried cooking a casserole in it yet, apparently you can cook a whole casserole in this microwave. I am definitely going to try this!
It really has so many neat features, but so far I have mostly used it to heat up vegetables (whether frozen or from the can), popcorn, and reheating coffee. I have also used the reheat feature – this lets you reheat leftovers, for example and the microwave worries about the time and power level so I don’t have to. Neat!
Maytag Jetclean Plus Dishwasher with Fully Intergrated Controls
The last thing I want to do after spending an hour or two cooking is clean up the mess. Luckily the Maytag Jetclean Plus Steam cycle in my dishwasher uses does the hard work for me. I don’t have to pre-rinse as much as I used to with my old dishwasher, as the high-pressure spray jets (and hotter temperatures) go to work on the stuck-on food. I love how my glassware comes out sparkling too – no more spots! Since I am only in our retirement home part-time currently, I usually run the dishwasher twice a week. But since the kitchen in this house is so huge and user-friendly, I find myself cooking more here than I do at our other house. This dishwasher definitely gets a workout and hasn’t let me down so far!
There are so many features that I love with this dishwasher – one of my favorites is the adjustable upper rack. It allows me to put different shaped and sized items in there, which is awesome for filling the dishwasher all the way. There are so many options for placing dishes, long spoons, and other utensils. The utensil rack is pretty fantastic – I wish I had this feature in my dishwasher at my other house!
I am so delighted with all of my Maytag appliances. We had Maytag appliances throughout my childhood and it is a name that I know and trust. We really have come a long way though since I was a child, thanks to new technological advances. I can’t help but think how impressed my mom (and HER mom!) would be to see what today’s appliances can do and how they would have made their lives so much easier. My mom would have been especially impressed with the simplicity of cleaning the oven. I remember her spraying on nasty chemicals and then scrubbing for hours.
I love, love, love my Maytag appliances. Not only are they gorgeous, but they have made my life so much easier in many different ways. I would rather use my time doing the things I love, like spending time with my family. I spend less time in the kitchen and more time with them. Now THAT is priceless.

I definitely need a micro upgrade. Ours is so wimpy and barely heats up coffee! I would love to test a casserole out in that , how neat!
