Launch a Summer Full of Racing Fun with Motorworks

June 20, 2014 by Randi 56 Comments

It’s no secret that my boys love cars. If it has an engine, if it “vroom-vroom’s,” if it drives, heck, even if it has wheels and moves, they love it. The problem is, most toy cars don’t quite hold up to the kids’ rambunctious play. I literally have an entire party bucket (the giant ones meant for ice and beverages) overflowing with toy cars, most of which have met their demise. Because of that, we’ve settled on wooden toy vehicles from here on out. One of my favorite brands for this is Motorworks by The Manhattan Toy Company.

Motorworks Logo

I’ve discussed the brand with you here before but, now, I want to take the time to share with you some of their newly released products. These days, not only are they making waves in the world of toy vehicles but play sets, too!

The Motorworks collection includes three different levels of products – the Street Series, the Speed Series, and the Extreme Series. Each of these is pretty self-explanatory and, for my little monsters, the latter of the three fits their monster truck loving personalities quite perfectly. Some of their favorite toys are a pair of the older models – the FSX Monster Truck 1.0 and the EXX Atomic Rider 2.0 – that we have.

To add to the fun, I (or they, rather) had the opportunity to try out some of the company’s newest toys. This time around, we’re exploring the Street and Speed levels.

Starting off with the TR Convertible, this awesome little car perfectly displays what it is that the company is all about. Beautiful toys made with smooth European beech wood and added fun found within the realistic styling of each and every piece is the definition of Motorworks and this particular toy vehicle is no exception. Just look at the sleek, chartreuse awesomeness on wheels!

Next, for sake of trying to make a joke, we’ll go with the NXT NextGen Stock 3.0 model. Next up is the NextGen (insert fake sympathy laughs here). Okay, okay, enough with the comedienne bit. This car is amazing, plain and simple. Ask any child what the fastest, coolest car is and, nine times out of ten, I’m sure that “race car” would be their answer. With this, you’re getting exactly that. Let your little one get behind the wheel and live out their need for speed with this lifelike race car.

To keep on the path of racing vehicles, those with open wheel concepts much like a certain antagonist from a certain animated film (wink, wink!) are always a favorite these days. The OSX Open Wheel 3.0 vehicle brings your child exactly that. These cars draw inspiration from not only classic dragsters but also from monster trucks. Tying together the best of both worlds, this particular vehicle can produce some pretty radical rides!

Now, for my little ones constantly seeing their daddy tow things, they too wanted in on this action. With a limited selection for this elsewhere, Motorworks was sure to include a wonderful option for all of those “just like dad” kiddos out there. The Baja Buggy & Trailer is the perfect choice for my own little ones and I am sure that your children would love it just the same. With this, not only do they get a super cute little buggy but they get to haul it around the yard, through the living room, or across the country with the true to life trailer and hitch. You can pair this with every one of the available vehicles so whether your child if a fan of the Street, Speed, or Extreme vehicles, they can now tow along their favorite little buggy!

Now as I promised, this time around Motorworks has gone above and beyond by including play sets in their collection. After all, if you have one, some, or all of these ridiculously amazing toy vehicles, you’ll need somewhere equally as fun to play with them! That is where the Play Set line comes in.

Starting with the smallest of the bunch, the Slingshot Speed Launcher literally slingshots your playtime into fun mode. Kids love to see things go fast but aren’t always capable of getting their toys up to par. Now they can! This play set helps to safely bring “fast” right to your child and puts the power in their own little hands. Made of the same wood as the vehicles themselves, this sturdy launching mechanism features a classic slingshot-style device that is incredibly easy to use. Simply place the vehicle on the launch pad, pull back the lever, and press down the button to send your car racing across the finish line to victory!

Of course, after all of that driving around, you’ll need to refill that gas tank. The Fuel-N-Shine Station allows you to do just that. And, while you’re there, you can even wash up for a great shine! Stop in, remove the gas nozzles, fill up your tank, and drive next door. There, you’ll find a nifty carwash perfect for cleaning up the mess of a fun day at play.

Motorworks - Fuel-N-Shine Station

While you’re out – go big or go home, right? With the Motorworks Play Table you’ll be able to turn an otherwise ordinary room into the raceway of your child’s dreams. This 16” tall table is the perfect height for even the youngest drivers and features a pit stop and garage area as well as a two-lane track for endless racing fun.

Since we were given the opportunity to test out a couple of the new items, I let each of my boys choose their favorites. Of course, the first choice was to (as I expected) be just like Daddy with the Baja Buggy & Trailer. As a second choice, our little one decided that going fast was his top priority of the day so the NGX NextGen Stock 3.0 was it. We added both of these to our previous Motorworks vehicles and the kids had an absolute blast playing with all of it. Just take a look!
