My older two kids love to read and my three year old loves to be read to. I often walk into a room and find the little one cuddled up with either one or both of his older siblings and one of them has a book reading to him. Whenever given the chance to check out a new book for my kids I happily agree and was even happier that it come with a stuffed toy for Jaylin to go with the book. My1story are books that have a twist on old fairy-tales like Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and the Beanstalk are now I Love Cake and Jack and the Magic Beans.

Jaylin received I Love Cake and the Lil’ Riding Hood plush that goes with it. It arrived on a day that Jeffery had karate so I didn’t give it to her until we were waiting in the van during Jeffery’s class. She was so excited and started reading the book immediately. There were very few words she didn’t know and I helped her out with them. She read it to herself and Lil’ Riding Hood once and then went into the back and read it to Jaxon. She didn’t put the book or plush down any while Jeffery was in his half hour class and even when we got home she brought them both in and kept reading it over and over, she even slept with the plush.

The story of I Love Cake is very similar to Red Riding Hood. Lil’ Riding Hood is taking a cake to her grandma and the smell wakes up Wolfie who is a cute little wolf and not as scary as the original Big Bad Wolf. Wolfie runs to beat Lil’ Riding Hood to her grandma’s house, except this time the story ends nice with a lesson in sharing.  Jack and the Magic Beans is about a giant named Beanie who has a stuffed toy named Goosy and he has a friend named Jack. They hop from cloud to cloud together all day. On his way back down the beanstalk Jack learns a lesson about taking something without permission and then all ends happily.  The books retail for $12.99.

Both books have a plush that goes with them, they are 11.5 inches and look like the characters in the books. Lil’ Riding Hood to go with I Love Cake and Beanie to go with Jack and the Magic Beans. The plush toys retail for $14.99.
