I have mentioned several times on my blog about how my husband and I are planning on retiring soon. We plan on taking a few road trips in the future to find our perfect place to settle in retirement. We usually stay in hotels (which we love), but when considering living in an area, it might be nice to actually stay in more of a “home” atmosphere to really get a feel for the area and what it would be like to live there.
Roomorarama is a really neat service that helps travelers connect with homes, vacation homes, apartments, etc.! I think this is a fabulous idea, and to have one service that does it all is very convenient. Plus, it is a safer way to do these types of transactions without just handing over money to someone online (very risky!).
Roomorama is the discerning traveller’s one-stop shop for short-term rentals. Wherever your next trip will be, or wherever your property is, use our online marketplace to connect and transact with hosts and guests who believe in convenient, rewarding and unique travel experiences. With an ever-growing inventory of hospitable accommodations, Roomorama is working to make you feel at home wherever you are.
I had quite a bit of fun searching around on the Roomorama site, entering the cities of places my hubby and I are considering for retirement. I also did some browsing for other places we like to go just for fun. Lake Tahoe is one place we really love, so I couldn’t resist looking around for what is available this summer. Searching was super easy. Here is a small sampling of what I found:
What I really loved about the listings is how detailed they are – at a glance you can find out how many bedrooms each place has, how many people can stay there, what type of property it is, etc.. It is also easy to identify pet-friendly accommodations. Once you click on a particular property, the details are expanded and you can see the rates for weekly or monthly stays, the deposit amount and how the deposit should be paid. Also you will find what is included in each place. It’s always good to know what they provide and what you need to bring along.
Each property is pinned on a map, so you can see what is nearby. This is a really handy feature!
If you aren’t sure exactly where you want to visit, or go on vacation, you can browse short-term rentals around the world. This is an excellent idea actually – if you want to head out of the country but don’t know where to begin, Roomorama can definitely help!
There can be considerable savings when choosing to stay at a home or condo, instead of a hotel. If you are going to travel with the entire family, you will also have much more room to spread out. What a relief for those with large families or small children. The other nice thing about staying in a rental vs. a hotel is how much money can be saved by cooking some or all of your own meals. When staying at a hotel, you are pretty much limited to eating in restaurants. If you are lucky enough to have a kitchen in your room, it will still be difficult to fit the whole family around the table (if there is a main kitchen table!).
There are so many advantages to Roomorama, and I really hope you will check them out. I can’t help but think about the trip I took to Europe with my mom when I was 18, and how much fun it would have been for us to stay in a comfy residence, instead of living out of our suitcases in a hotel. Whether you are staying in the United States, or are going to explore another country, there are SO many options to choose from!
Make sure you connect with Roomorama on Facebook and Twitter!

I would much rather stay at a residence than at a hotel. This is really cool. Thanks for sharing this info.
