Back when I was growing up (many years ago!), you’d often hear people use the phrase “healthy tan.” I never had a healthy tan, being that I’m of pale-or-burnt ancestry, but kids with tanned skin were regarded as outdoorsy and sporty–kids who didn’t sit inside all day watching television. Now, of course, we all know that a tan isn’t healthy at all–it’s a visible sign of skin damage. It’s important for both adults and children to protect their skin when they’re outdoors. With kids, that can be easier said than done!
Whether they don’t like the feeling or smell of sunscreen or they simply don’t want to take the time out to lotion up, it can be difficult to protect kids from the harmful effects of the sun’s rays. With Goddess Garden, things just got a lot easier. Goddess Garden describes itself as enlightened suncare, but it can also be described by another, much shorter word: fun!
I was able to review several Goddess Garden products and I was really impressed with all of them. I shared them with my nieces and they absolutely adored the Kids UV Bracelet. This is such a fantastic way to teach children about the importance of sun protection–the bracelets change color in the sun to indicate when it’s time to apply sunscreen.
The Kids Natural SPF 30 Sunscreen Spray was a big hit too–spray sunscreen is much faster and easier than the lotion variety. All Goddess Garden products are nearly all organic (Goddess Garden has the highest certified organic content available for sunscreen), free of chemical sunscreens (which recent reports indicate may contain carcinogens), and recommended by pediatricians and dermatologists. I have sensitive skin and I hate the sticky feeling of many sunscreens–I used the Kids Natural Sunscreen on myself and I liked its blendability and the light, non-perfumey lavender scent. I can see why my nieces are such big fans!
Goddess Garden understands the skin care needs of children because it was born out of a need for organic body wash for the founder’s young child, who was allergic to the foaming agent in soaps. After seeing the “cocktail of chemicals” in conventional sunscreen, Nova Covington began making all-natural sunscreen. Now, Goddess Garden is the fastest growing natural sun care line in the country! It’s easy to see why natural sunscreens are gaining popularity–they use natural ingredients and minerals as a physical barrier to the sun’s rays, which means they’re effective immediately. This is another reason why they’re fantastic for kids!
Goddess Garden Natural Suncare products are available nationwide at many Whole Foods and other natural markets. To find a retailer near you, use the store locator on the Goddess Garden website. You can also order from Goddess Garden’s online store.
