Taking my cats to the vet has got to be one thing I dread doing the most. Besides the obvious reasons, there is also the issue of the carrier that I will be transporting my cats in. I am happy to report that Petmate has solved this problem for me!

The Petmate Pet Carrier is very, very clever. Previously, I had a hard plastic carrier with oodles of metal clasps and connectors. My cats could hear it coming a mile away (the shrill sound of the metal hitting the plastic) and they ran for the hills. Or under the bed. Wherever they ran off too, it made the job of getting them to the vet even harder. I don’t fit under the bed so well, and they can’t be bribed out. It’s a lose/lose situation for sure.

The Petmate is unlike any carrier I have seen before. To start with, it is super cute and stylish! When it arrived, I was slightly confused, as it was flat. A few minutes of zipping it together and I was pretty darned amazed. The “floor” and “roof” zip on. There are no clanky parts to scare my cats.   Having it store flat is ideal for those who travel frequently, or for those who simply don’t have the space to store a pet carrier.  If you have multiple pets, you could have a carrier for each and they would probably take up less room than one regular carrier!

It has a soft, luxurious pad that lays on the floor bottom, and a handle to carry it.

Fortunately, I haven’t had to transport my kitties to the vet since I have received this, but they are all due for shots soon. For once, I am actually excited to take them in. It will be so easy to get them in and out, since I can either open the top and “drop” them in, or open the front and prod them in. Of course, Newman will go in willingly:

He thinks it is quite fun!

The Petmate pet carrier is a win/win in our family.  I don’t have to show up at the vet’s office all sweaty and ragged (like I just ran a marathon), and the cats aren’t scared anymore. Hopefully they won’t give me the cold shoulder for days either.

If you want a special bed for your pet, Petmate is the place.  Seriously.  I have been swooning over their beds, and dreaming of the day when they  make one big enough for me.  For the ultimate in luxury, for cats or dogs, Petmate has a huge selection for pets of all sizes.  I want this bed below.  And the dog:

  1. This is so much nicer than the hard plastic carrier I have for my cat when he needs to go to the vet!! I hope you get to do a giveaway for one 🙂

I sure can relate to your story. I have had many cats over the years and have had similar experience to their disappearing act. The pet carrier you mentioned is very unique to its ability to being collapsible. I have actually had to cancel vet appointments because my cats disappeared and did not show up again until that night. I cannot get around like I used to and cannot kneel any more. Another tip is to every now and then bring the carrier out and set it up and leave it in the room. Eventually when they see it they will not run. I actually bring mine out the day before so they know where it and are not afraid of it. The idea that you can put them in the top, back or front of the carrier is also very useful.
