As a busy mom and wife, sometimes I like to step out of home life for a bit for a little “me” time. Whether I choose to do some gardening, oil painting, or just surf the web, I find that I really need this time. One of the websites/communities I like to visit is P&Geveryday, as there are a variety of topics that I can really relate to. As I was spent of time there this morning, I ran across this article that really made me stop and think. The article is called “Is it Time for a Digital Detox?”. The article really hit close to home for me, as my husband and I JUST talked about this over the weekend. We were discussing how our family seems to have slightly drifted apart, since we often times have our heads hovering over our electronics.
He also pointed out to me, that in the evenings, I seemed to be very absorbed in my blog work. And he was right. There were always deadlines approaching, but for some reason I am most productive at night. Things have to change, and I have decided to set hours during the day (while he is at work), specifically for working on my blog. Doing this will not only free me up from working basically all day long, but I can enjoy my family and home life. My husband also mentioned that instead of checking his email in the evening after he gets home, that he will put his phone away too. We both started doing this on Monday, and I have to say it feels REALLY good! I have actually been slowly stepping back from being online for quite some time now, and it is such a “freeing” feeling. There IS life after the internet, smart phones, tablets, etc.
I highly recommend you try this, if you haven’t had a digital detox in awhile. If you can get everyone in the family to do the same, I think you will all discover how much time you enjoy spending time together. Better yet, get out of the house for awhile (weather permitting). Taking a walk together or hanging out at the park is very refreshing – mentally and physically.
I really love the sense of community on P&Geveryday. It is so nice to have a place where you can ask questions, get answers and advice, or just see what others are saying. Another nice thing is that you can get product recommendations. I don’t know about you, but I like to hear about someone’s personal experiences with products before buying them (when possible). And honestly, we moms know all of the best stuff! You can take advantage of special offers and samples while you are there too.
There are so many other fun and interesting (and helpful!) topics and articles on P&Geveryday. Whether you are looking for new recipe ideas, fun crafts to do with the kids, or needing health/wellbeing advice and information, and just about anything in between, you will definitely find some answers on P&Geveryday! Don’t forget to follow P&Geveryday on Facebook as well!

You are definitely right about saying no. There are just some times we need it.

Sometimes at night when we are watching tv my husband just wants me to shut the laptop and I need to do it more often!

I love P&G Everyday also! And the digital detox is a great idea… may have to talk to the hubby about that 🙂

I definitely need a digital detox. Even if I stay away all day, I end up checking email & things at night.
