A couple of weeks ago I introduced you to Everyday Healthy Values.  I hope you have had a chance to take advantage of the savings with their coupons on healthy items such as food, vitamins and more!

As promised, I have a few tips on how small changes can make a big difference! These are really helpful ideas, and I have started implementing them already.

If you are upset or stressed, the natural thing to do might be to reach for food. Instead, do something else to keep your mind busy and away from the goodies. Some suggestions are reading a book, cleaning the house (including that dreaded junk drawer!), take a walk, do other exercises, go outside and water the plants, etc. The possibilities are endless and when you are doing something productive while you are NOT eating, it feels doubly good!

  • Be patient – Making changes to your eating habits might take some time and you’ll have to find a system that works for you and your lifestyle.
  • Be aware – Emotional eating is one thing to really be aware of – it can sneak up on you if you’re not careful. Don’t feel like you have to do it all right away.
  • Start with small steps – sometimes making big changes is hard. Start small and track your progress.
  • Keep track – you just might surprise yourself if you track the alternatives you have done (instead of eating). You might find at the end of the month that you have walked several miles, all due to not reaching for food when you were upset.

I would love to hear any other tips that have helped you with eating healthier! What do you do as an alternative to grabbing food when your emotions get the better of you?

Make sure you visit Everyday Healthy Values and start printing coupons for the healthy stuff! Remember, having healthy food options on hand at all times is half the battle.

  1. Thanks for the tips and I’m going to have to check out those coupons (I’m always looking for ways to save money)! When I get stressed, I try to go outside and get some exercise walking or running. It doesn’t solve the problem, but I feel a lot better than after I eat because I’m stressed.
