Rev Up Your Engines for Motorworks, the Coolest Toy Cars Around

Alright, obvious question here – how many of you have seen those big, thick plastic buckets meant for use as coolers and/or ice buckets for outdoor entertaining? You know the brightly colored ones with the rope handles? The giant ones that are meant to hold numerous 2-liter (or bigger) bottles of soda, ice, water, etc.? We have two of those… full of toy cars.

With little boys, having an outrageous number of toy cars (or anything on wheels for that matter) is kind of inevitable. We started out with a little carrying case full, then upgraded to the larger carry-all box, and ultimately ended up with two ginormous buckets full. Surely, adding Daddy’s childhood collection didn’t help the situation but doing so certainly entertained the kids. In our house, toy cars are most parents’ version of Legos. If you think stepping on Legos are bad, you must not have come across a misplaced toy car in the middle of the night.  Ouch! Regardless, ever since my little ones learned of the “Vroom!” sound, they’ve been hooked on just about anything that drives. And the bigger, the better. We have everything from your classic, little metal cars to the ones the kids can drive around the backyard.

Over the years, a favorite of mine has always been wooden cars. I love the simplicity of them and, of course, the eco-friendliness of it. The kids on the other hand, well without having all of the bells and whistles, were never all that fond of them. Recently, however, I was introduced to a new take on these old gems.

Motorworks by Manhattan Toy is a line of wooden toy cars that DO have all of the bells and whistles! To make them even more fun, you get to put them together! Now this is definitely not your typical Pinewood Derby type of wooden car project. The Motorworks toys come with everything that you need to build and even deck out your new, wooden toy car. Including, of course, the car and allowing options for added accessory packs, custom decals, and even play sets, the Motorworks product line is something that little boys will surely swoon over. Forget about the cars that you though were “cool” because these ones will blow your socks off!

Recently I had the opportunity to try out a few of the products and it feels wrong to say that my kids “had fun” with these toys. They had a BLAST with their snazzy, new Motorworks toys! With Daddy being a car buff, all three of them were in their glory! We got to try out the Motorworks most recent product releases of the Race Pace Power Pack 2.0 and the EXX Atomic Rider wooden toys.

The Motorworks Race Pace Power Pack 2.0 is a must have for any sibling duo – especially brothers! My little guys went nuts over these awesome toy cars and rightfully so.

Race Pace Power Pack 2.0

All of the Motorworks cars start out with a European Beech wood body that is fully customizable from there. Whether your kids are into the super-fast race cars, the kicked back low-riders, or the crazy cool monster truck style, these wooden toys are certainly up your alley. With products crossing between the Speed Series, Street Series, and Extreme Series options, there is definitely something for everyone. And, now, with the expansion of the Motorworks accessory lines, you can truly get whatever look you’re after.

These days, a lot of people are big on chrome. Not too long ago, Justin Bieber (allow for teen girl screams here!) made headlines for his six-figure set of wheels that was – get this – completely wrapped in a flashy, all chrome paint job! Yes, really…

Thankfully, you don’t have to spend upward of $100,000 to get your very own chrome look. With the Motorworks Chrome Effects 2.0 Accessory Kit, anyone can get that shiny pizzazz. Priced at only $12, you can add this shimmering gleam to any of the Motorworks cars for less than nine thousand times what you’d spend to get Bieber’s shiny set of wheels. This accessory kit includes chromed out wheels, a spoiler, and more.

Now, the Motorworks Top Fuel 2.0 Accessory Kit is a bit more up my alley. The sound of running a car down the quarter-mile drag just has a certain ring to it that you can’t find elsewhere. This kit has everything necessary to satisfy your need for speed! From the drag slick tires to the side exhaust, your Motorworks wooden car will be zooming down the track in no time!

Saving the best for last, the Motorworks EXX Atomic Rider 2.0 is completely our style. With Mommy and Daddy both driving lifted vehicles and since off-roading is one of our usual family adventures, adding this particular toy car to our collection was a no brainer! While most “big” cars aren’t actually cars but, instead, monster trucks, this toy car (yes, car) from Motorworks was a nice change. We are overridden with huge, mini monster trucks in our house but this… this is the perfect combination of a monster truck and a race car! Why hasn’t someone thought of this before now?! Genius!

The absolute best part of all of these cars is that every single piece is interchangeable. The wooden vehicle body remains and can be customized with infinite possibilities and without the batteries! Life these days has become so overridden with technology that we often forget how much fun it is to keep it simple. The Motorworks toy cars remind us of that and with their limitless customization options, it gives kids a chance to use their imaginations. Through the swapping in and out of the different accessory packs, convertible chassis, custom wheels, durable decals, and more, the Motorworks toys can, surely, last a lifetime.

The mixing and matching of the different parts makes these toys an absolute favorite of mine. Kids outgrow many toys all too quickly but with the Motorworks toys, simply swapping out an accessory here or there turns your “old” toy into a brand new four-wheeled adventure. And better yet, with the solid wooden body, it doesn’t break! In a house full of boys, that is saying something. Between racing in the house, destruction derby in the backyard, and even a few Godzilla-like scenes played out with dinosaurs and toy cars, there is no doubt in my mind that our new Motorworks toys will be the ones that stand through the test of time.

I am absolutely overjoyed with these toys and plan on picking up much more of the product line to add to our collection. I have always been a fan of wooden toys, cars in particular, but the new take on the old toys with these vehicles by Motorworks definitely takes the cake! And bonus! It encourages the kids to share! I secretly caught the two of them trading parts the other day! The little ones LOVE these cars, so much so that our two giant buckets have been abandoned since the Motorworks gear arrived. We went from hundreds of cars down to a few while still keeping the possibility of having hundreds through simple part changes. With Motorworks, one little car can become anything and that, well that, is a toy worth investing in.
