Stop Motion Sickness In Its Tracks This Summer with Sea-Band

Two weeks ago, Luv went on her first day sail with The Mister and his parents. Bugsy and I stayed behind, but to help ease my mind with how she’d feel on the open water, Sea-Band sent us some of their products to pack in her bag.[*]

How do they work?

Simply put? Acupressure. The Sea-Band wristband is a stretchy material with a plastic stud attached on the inside. The wristband is designed to fit snugly so that the stud applies just enough pressure and stimulates the P6 {or Nei-Kuan} acupressure point. These wristbands are an excellent, clinically proven, drug-free alternative to combat nausea and vomiting.

I asked The Mister to be sure to get plenty of pictures on the trip, both for review purposes and for memory’s sake. *wink* Unfortunately, he didn’t take a single picture of him wearing his adult Sea-Band. But he did offer his opinion on the product!

The Mister’s thoughts:

Sailing is an enjoyable experience for me almost always. Though I often find myself forced to be on deck due my own sensitivity to motion. The Sea-Band actually allowed me to stay below deck a little longer than normal, allowing me to give my daughter a tour of the cabin space. Normally, I don’t last more than two or three minutes below deck before the waves of nausea hit me. This trip, while wearing the Sea-Band wristbands that Erin packed, I was able to go below deck multiple times for upwards of fifteen minutes each time.

Luv’s thoughts:

I think it’s cool. I like the colors! They’re dark pink and a lighter pink – really pretty. I had lots of fun on Papa’s boat. The wakes made me hold on to the boat tight. And I saw lots of buoys. It was fun!

They didn’t even feel the need to break into the Ginger Gum! I suggested that he give it to his parents as they will get much more use out of it this summer with all the sailing they plan on doing. I’m sure they’ll appreciate it!

Each piece of gum contains 25mg of ginger oil – equivalent to 8g of fresh ginger root. ~http://www.sea-band.com/gingergum

If The Mister is ever able to convince me to sail again {that’s a long story for a different blog post entirely} I will insist on wearing an adult Sea-Band. But considering the different situations I could use them for, I am happy that we have them if we need them. Road trips, boating, flying, even morning sickness {no I am not pregnant} – I can just throw them in my handbag or keep them in the glove box so I can stop motion sickness and nausea in their tracks, naturally and without side effects!

  1. I love that this is all natural !! My daughter suffers from motion sickness and I hate having to give her meds, but knowing it’s all natural, makes me feel better 😉

  2. I didn’t know they were marketing them to pregnant women. Make sense. I’d love to try these.

  3. I learned that the band operates by applying pressure on the Nei Kuan acupressure point on each wrist by means of a plastic stud

  4. I learned “One band must be worn on each wrist to be effective. Sea-Bands can be put onto your wrist before you start travelling, or after you have started your journey.”

  5. Sea-Band is a knitted elasticated wrist band, which operates by applying pressure on the Nei Kuan acupressure point on each wrist by means of a plastic stud. Because the bands do not use drugs, they do not cause any of the side effects associated with anti-nausea drugs and can be worn on each wrist whenever you feel nauseous.

  6. I learned that they help with Post-Operative and Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea! Thanks for the giveaway!

  7. Sea-Bands are clinically proven to relieve motion sickness and morning sickness in addition to helping with post-operative and chemotherapy-induced nausea.
