Our new home (we have actually been here almost 2 years), has hardwood floors throughout the downstairs. They are tricky to keep clean, as we live in the high desert and there is lots of dust! I sweep frequently, but I know that dust remains. For the health of all of us (including the cats), I want to make sure the floors are really clean. I have been using the Shark Genius Steam Pocket Mop System for a few weeks now, and I really, really love it! I think part of the reason I love it so much is that I can SEE it working.
Some of the best features, in my opinion, are that the floors dry very quickly, it is lightweight, and I am not using chemicals. Those are all big pluses in my book! I love how fast it “preps” for mopping too – just plug it in and listen for the “steaming” sound and you are good to go. It is easy to pull it out and use at a moments notice, and it stores away nicely, as it is not large and/or cumbersome.
There aren’t a bunch of confusing buttons and settings to deal with – it is very straightforward and easy to use.
Setup was pretty straightforward. One thing you will definitely need to do before you start is fill the water reservoir using the provided container.
Using the convenient pour spout, pour the water into the mop, as directed. It is important to keep water in the reservoir.
The system comes with two Dirt Grip pads, which are washable. I really like the idea that I don’t have to purchase new pads all the time. How wasteful! I don’t like handling dirty things, especially things that have been all over my floor, but I don’t have to worry about that with the Shark Genius Steam Pocket Mop System. The Dirt Grip pads can be quickly removed without even touching them! The simple press of a button will release the pad – straight into the laundry basket (or wherever you will be washing it). When I mention above about dirty things on my floor, that is obviously before using the Shark Genius 🙂 In fact, the steam doesn’t only clean floors, but it sanitizes them. I LOVE knowing that all of the “ickies” are not on my floor any longer. Ewwww look:

Steam is distributed over the surface of the pocket, which allows it to clean large areas easily. It also has SteamBlaster technology which means less (or no) scrubbing for you, when it comes to removing stubborn things off the floor – think pet accidents, grease and scuff marks (the latter are SO hard to remove normally!). The Shark Genius Steam Pocket Mop System can be used on all sealed hard floors.
I will be using this mop for a long, long time. I only wish I had it sooner – I would have saved myself so much work!

I have heard nothing but good things about Shark vacuums and this is the first time I have heard about a Shark Steam Pocket Mop. It looks like it does such a wonderful job of cleaning and I would love having one. I love that it doesn’t leave any puddles of water on your floor….

I hate regular mopping. This looks absolutely perfect for me. very glad I saw this post 🙂
I would love to get something with some power to clean my floors. My mop just isn’t cutting it.
