Just because I have a long list of foods that I don’t eat, doesn’t mean my family has to miss out entirely! As a family though, we avoid grains completely, so I was thrilled to learn that Shiloh Farms has a gluten free line with all items packaged in a dedicated gluten free facility! They recently sent my family a variety of ingredients to check out.[*]

I’ve been weaving them in to our meals ever since they arrived! I have thrown the dried cranberries and walnuts on their spinach salads and mixed together some GORP {good ol’ raw protein} for The Mister to snack on in his work van.

The other night, using the Shiloh Farms organic unsulphered Black Mission figs, I adapted a Chai Spiced Fruit Pork Chops recipe from PaleOMG. The recipe base is stellar as it is – combining a fruit compote with the warmth of chai and flavor of pork? Amazing.

I even experimented with a paleo brownie {grain free, low glycemic}. It didn’t turn out as I had imagined {it was crumbly} so I will nix a recipe share, but that didn’t stop them from eating it by the bowlful! *chuckle* The Mister said it was delicious, crumbles or not, and asked me to make it again. So I suppose it wasn’t a total snafood.

ah! it’s like a pie cooling in the windowsill, but not a pie at all.

The result? Satiating, delicious bars. Between The Mister taking them to work and Luv’s snack attacks they were gobbled up in no time!
