It is snowingโฆ in March.
Give that a moment to sink in, Iโll wait. It has been a brutal winter thus far and I am most certainly looking forward to the season change. Ever since I was young, springtime was something that I always hoped would come sooner rather than later. Being cooped up indoors due to horrid weather was never much fun and now, as a parent, Iโve found that it is still not much fun. This year in particular has been a bit worse because many of us often equate spring with the St. Patrickโs Day holiday. With the green holiday now just eleven days away and with many of us still seeing endless piles of snow just outside of our windows, it doesnโt feel much like springtime. Coincidentally, Iโm finding that I donโt really have the energy to get into my usual decorating and celebrating routine despite having a good amount of Irish blood running through me. However, I donโt want to deprive my family of the usual St. Patrickโs Day fun because, after all, a little leprechaun magic is sure to make even the dreariest day a bit more fun.
Recently, I learned of a lovely little product that is sure to help families everywhere do just that โ have fun! Well, with a leprechaun anyway. Iโm sure that many of you are familiar with the way the whole leprechaun thing works, no? Aside from the usual pot of gold at the end of the rainbow or the silly little cereal fella singing about โhearts, stars, and horseshoesโ on our televisions, leprechauns are said to have a prankster side to them. While many of us use things like clovers, all things green, touches of gold, and plenty of adult drinks to celebrate the St. Patrickโs Day holiday, could you imagine if you found a leprechaun in your house? I can envision it now โ itโd be like those โterrible-twosโ or those โthreenagerโ years for our children but multiplied. Add in a little sass, a few tricks, and a whole lot of fun and you would surely be looking at some good olโ leprechaun chaos. How many of you would be brave enough to take that on? Better yet, how much would your children love it?
I want you all to join me here. Envision something with me. Think of those winter holiday โon the shelfโ characters, give them a sassy personality mixed with the thrill of jokes and pranks, add in a wee bit of green and a whole lot of Irish; what do you have? Silly McGilly of course!

Please allow me to introduce you to my familyโs newest friend: Silly McGilly!

Silly McGilly is the St. Patrickโs Day house guest that brings a world of excitement and sometimes a mess to your holiday celebration. This year, I am so incredibly excited to invite him and his crazy antics into our house for the holiday season.
Silly McGilly is a friendly Leprechaun who enjoys playing fun little tricks on children throughout the St. Patrickโs Day season. Read his story, then place his doll by a window each evening that you would like Silly to come and play a trick in your home or classroom.
What do you think heโd do? Ask your children; what do they think he would do? Would he do something nice? Would he do something mischievous? Or would he just follow his namesake and do something silly? I think that part of the fun is not knowing because, after all, a leprechaun never tells his secrets. Youโll just have to wait until morning!
The next morning children will delight in seeing what shenanigans Silly McGilly has been up to while they slept. Maybe heโs left some treats behind: it could be chocolate coins, shamrocks, or a St. Patrickโs Day sticker. Or maybe heโs been up to a little mischief, turning over chairs or leaving the kitchen cabinets open.
I can only imagine the silliness that would amount! Oh, the possibilities!

I am thrilled to have been introduced to Silly McGilly not only because he seems to be incredibly fun but also because, oftentimes, it is difficult to celebrate the St. Patrickโs Day holiday on a childrenโs level. These days, it has become all about the adults and various green drinks but, as an Irish family, I love being able to incorporate our heritage into holiday celebrations. Previously, it has been all about the food and getting the kids into the kitchen with me but now, thanks to Silly McGilly, it can be a month-long celebration for the entire family.
The magic of Silly McGilly is as limitless as your imagination. YOU hold the power to decide what sorts of fun Silly will have in your home or classroom, and how often Silly will visit: every day in March, once a week, or just the day before St. Patrickโs Day.
Regardless of whether or not you have an Irish background, Silly McGilly is a fantastic addition to every home and for every family during the St. Partrickโs Day season. Not only does it help to instill a love of reading through the included book but it will surely light that spark of imagination in your children. It is great fun to sit down and enjoy a fantastic book with your little one but it is amazing to see their little eyes light up as they relish in the magic of the holiday.
This year, this St. Patrickโs Day, I ask you to do three things:
- Believe in the magic!
- Welcome Silly McGilly into your home!
- Follow the rainbow to that fabled pot of goldโฆ and share if you find it!

He would probably have a dino party, ride in a dump truck, or eat chocolate!
Oh my word, I’m in love with this! How adorable is he!? Wow. So many possibilities. Silly McGilly would most likely make a mess….turn the chairs over, leave green footprints on the tables. He might even leave “shamrock soup” for the class to enjoy (lime sherbet and sprite?) He’d even find ways to break our class rules. (great way to help review expectations too!) Thanks for the fun giveaway! I’m DEFINITELY keeping my fingers crossed!! ๐
My Silly Mcgilly would leave green footprints on the toilet seat with green water in the toilet bowl! Haha ๐
he would do a lot of silly but harmless pranks like shake the soda bottle , hang a fake spider on the wall
Read a book filled with all kind of wonders with Cody.
I think I’d have him chose the breakfast foods — seems like if he chose them, the kids would think it silly but eat them.
He would be into all kinds of mischief

Oh , I can imagine all kinds of silliness and mischief. Crumbs on the counter, candy wrappers and maybe toilet tissue unraveled.

this would entertain my grandchildren at my house
Oh my!!! SO cute! I would use this in my classroom and we would have loads of fun with it!
He would play games with my kids ๐
I think he would remind the children to do their chores…or else he’ll make the messes even bigger…and greener.
It would enterain my son and his friends and encourage them to do good deeds.
I would love to win this for my kids! My anniversary is on St. Patrick’s day, so it’s obviously our favorite holiday!
He would be part of a fun treasure hunt..leaving clues all around the house and the last clue would lead them to a treasure box (or pot of gold) full of St Patrick’s day fun! ๐
