If you read my blog, The Type A Housewife, you know that I am really adamant about using natural soaps and cleaning products. As someone who is sensitive to chemicals, it’s important for me to eliminate ingredients that cause me headaches and breakouts. Although these products are often more expensive than their conventional counterparts, I find ways to cut corners elsewhere in our budget so we can spend the money on chemical-free cleaners. When I heard about Soap Hope, an online retailer specializing in natural, wholesome products for the home and body, I was immediately hooked.
Okay, so now you know all about Soap Hope. Let’s talk about some of my favorite picks from their shop!
Zum Bar//Lavender-Mint Goat’s Milk Soap
Okay, I’m going to admit, at first I was a little put off by the goat’s milk part, but a few months ago I started using goat’s milk soap and I’ve found it’s really nourishing for my temperamental skin. This soap smells so amazing that I just wanted to carry it with me all day long. Is that weird?
In general, I’m not a fan of flowery scents. But citrus? OH YES! I love anything citrus-y because it just smells like clean to me. Natural laundry detergents can be just as effective as the big-name brands–try this and you will be a believer!
Pangea Organics//Canadian Pine with White Sage Hand Soap
My favorite scent of hand soap from one of my favorite bath & body brands. It smells like a forest. And pine oil is an antiseptic, so there’s that too.
What I love about Soap Hope is that they have all of my favorite brands in one place: Biokleen, Zum, Badger, Pangea, and more. And Soap Hope offers frequent discounts on these brands. Right now, for example, you can get an additional 15% off on all Zum Bars–that’s 15% off their already discounted price. So yeah, that’s kind of a big deal, right? Of course, you can get discounts from a lot of places online–what really sets Soap Hope apart from the competition is their commitment to better the lives of women in the developing world.
Every Soap Hope sale, whether it’s for $5 or $50, goes to help women become educated, receive adequate healthcare, or take up a trade or craft so she can support her family. Soap Hope calls this their Good Returns business model: every dollar of profit goes to an institution that uses it to solve world problems. After a year, the money is returned to Soap Hope. If you’ve heard of microloans, this is kind of the same idea, except on a bigger scale.
I think you’ll enjoy Soap Hope as much as I do!

I love how pretty these soaps are! They’d be great to tuck into a gift basket.
