Sweet and Salty Holiday Pretzel Bows

December 17, 2019 by Jennifer Leave a Comment

If you are looking for a little something to brighten up you holiday table, this is a fun and colorful way to do just that. These Sweet and Salty Holiday Pretzel Bows are easy to make and are certain to wow your guests. The sky is the limit – you can decorate them however you like. There are so many options, and you can match them to any theme you might have.

Sweet and Salty Holiday Pretzel Bows

Choose your chocolate

The first step is to decide what kind of chocolate to use – milk, white or chocolate {or all three!}. I chose milk and white chocolate, as the combination looks so pretty together.

Melt the chocolate

White chocolate tends to melt differently than milk and dark chocolate. I have found that melting white chocolate using the double boiler method is the easiest way. It is very important that you don’t add liquid to melted white chocolate, including food coloring. If you must, be sure to do a little research first on the best way to do so. Milk chocolate and dark chocolate can be melted in the microwave for 1 minute, then at 15 second intervals until it is melted and smooth. Do not overcook it though!

Dip ’em!

Dip one end of each pretzel into the chocolate of your choice. I found that when dipping small pretzels in chocolate, it is easiest to fill a large metal spoon with the chocolate, then run the pretzel half through the chocolate. It is much easier to control this way. Place each pretzel on a large sheet of parchment paper.

Decorate the dipped pretzels

Here is the fun part – decorating the pretzels! Here are a few ideas:
~Dust them with gold and silver sprinkles
~Dust them as mentioned above, and add sprinkles
~Use traditional holiday sprinkles
~Carefully place gold and silver balls on the pretzels
~Place long green sprinkles and red balls {like I have done}, to look like holly and berries
~Pipe thin lines of frosting to make stockings, Christmas trees, candy canes, etc.
