Teen Party Food Ideas

Teen Party Food Ideas

If you are looking for teen party food ideas, have I got some great ones for you! We recently celebrated my daughter’s 16th birthday by having a big bash at our house. She invited all of her friends, and it was quite fun. Of course, I had to brainstorm in the days prior to her party, to try and figure out what would be fun for teenagers to eat and what activities teens like to do at parties.

How to throw the perfect teen party

As far as the food – it had to be tasty of course, unique, and not too messy, ideally. I brainstormed and thought it would be a blast to make individual appetizers/treats in little plastic cups with lids. Not only would these be fun party foods, but these little cups would reduce the need for a bunch of plates, utensils, etc.

I bought the little individual plastic cups and lids at the party store, and then I had some fun in the kitchen!  What was really nice is that pretty much everything I made was refrigerated, and stored overnight. The day of the party I simply pulled the little cups out of the refrigerator, set them on trays, and arranged them on the table.

The best party food ideas for teens

First I made a Shrimp Ceviche. I chopped up Roma tomatoes, onions, cilantro, etc. and added bay shrimp. I “lined” each cup with a thin slice of cucumber and filled them with the Shrimp Ceviche.

Now, this next idea was a blast. I made several different jello flavors and put them in the little cups. For the Orange Jello, I put a mandarin orange slice in each. A blueberry went into each Blueberry Jello cup, A slice of Kiwi went into the Lime cups and my daughter put a gummy bear in each of the Cherry Jello cups.

My husband made a fantastic batch of deviled eggs (I forgot to take an “after” photo – oops!):

What food should I serve at a party for teens?

This is what was the hit of the night – a chocolate fountain! I think everyone loves a fountain with chocolate flowing down the sides, right? It it my idea of heaven, at least. We used milk chocolate for out self-serve fountain.

What foods do you dip in a chocolate fountain?

Pretty much anything you want! We cut up strawberries and bananas for dipping in the chocolate fountain. We also found that shortbread cookies and pretzels are great to serve with melted milk chocolate. Oreo cookies are always fun to dip in chocolate, you can use large marshmallows and graham crackers and dip them in the chocolate fountain to make s’mores too!

What kind of activities should I plan for a teen party?

There is more to a good party than food though. In addition to the fun teen party food, we also had  a few interesting activities planned, which turned out to be very popular as well.

And last but certainly not least – pinata time! Pinatas are not just for little kids. They can be fun for pepole of all ages. Since my daughter and her friends are NOT fans of “The Biebs”, she decided that it would be the perfect pinata. They had fun trying to smack it, while my husband and son moved it around on the rope.

justin bieber, pinata,

I was pretty proud of myself – I had thrown the perfect party that teens love {I know because they told me so!}, and I got to relax the day of, since I prepared everything ahead of time.  It doesn’t get better than that! I hope these party food ideas for teenagers (and other teen party ideas) will help you in planning your next awesome teenager party!

I like these ideas a lot. If you keep the food interesting you should be able to hold their attention to the party.

I am SO stealing every single idea here!!! I love how you did those jello cups especially and I’d probably embarrass myself trying to stay away from that chocolate fountain myself LOL!!! Just love it!

Looks like some great snacks! I give you a pat on the back, I am not so sure I will be able to do this when my kids are of the age, maybe I need to loosen up but there would be too many rules!
