The Fresh Dolls are here and they are living up to the hype! Here’s my Fresh Dolls Review.

Buy Black Dolls

I wanted to show off these gorgeous dolls from the Fresh Squad Platinum Collection and the Fresh Finity Collection for Black History Month because the creator of these trendy toys is Dr. Lisa.

She’s a former professor turned entrepreneur, and is now the owner of the largest black owned multicultural doll company in the world.

I was lucky enough to receive the following 12” high quality dolls…

Action Figures

Aniyah – with new Fresh finity Wear

Aniya Fresh Finity

Shanell  – with new Fresh finity Wear

Miles – Fresh Squad Platinum Collection

Miles’ hair style is the first to be mass produced on a doll and is also patent pending.

I also loved 2 other dolls on the website named Carissa…

And Moli.

So much thought has gone into creating these 11″ and 12″ dolls for our kids and even collectors. They feature custom blended skin tones, and natural hairstyles. You can see the Fresh dolls sporting locks, braids, ‘fros, and curls.

One doll even sports a fade. Dr. Lisa is bringing the authenticity!

You’ve heard of Christian Louboutin aka “red bottoms”, well these dolls all rock their signature “purple bottoms.”

Dolls With A Backstory

These 11.5” fashionably dressed dolls come with an elaborate backstory that celebrates their heritage.

Fresh Finity “Regine”

Regine has Afro-Latina roots and her story can be found at Freshdolls.com.

It says, “Growing up she was ashamed of her big curls but now she embraces them and every other thing about herself! Do not let her sweet looks fool you, Regine was born and

raised in Brooklyn… Currently, she is studying choreography and is hoping to open her own dance studio in the neighborhood she grew up in teaching Folklorico, rumba, and bachata.”

Where to Buy The Fresh Dolls

The dolls are available on the The Fresh Dolls website but I have also seen their breathtaking Fresh Fierce Collection Black Panther on the shelves at Target. The Wakanda dolls stopped me in my tracks because of how well sculpted they are.

Fresh Fierce Collection Black Panther

If you are looking for black owned toys these are a sure bet! The artists really captured the essence and beauty of the actors which doesn’t always go well when recreating ethnic faces.

Don’t forget to check out their Rock The Bells by line by Rap legend, L.L. Cool J.

About Dr. Lisa, Creator of The Fresh Dolls

The Fresh Dolls review would not be complete without celebrating it’s creator, Dr. Lisa R. Williams.

Dr. Lisa has a Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) in Marketing and Logistics from The Ohio State University.

Dr. Lisa R. Williams

She has created an extraordinary company that believes children should see their own beauty and brilliance reflected back at them through the toys they play with. I believe her company accomplishes that.

Her story can be found on the back of each Platinum collection box. The brief bio features many firsts for the entrepreneur. Dr. Lisa was the first African American to graduate with a doctorate in her area, and she also became the highest ranking professor in the world.

Dr. Lisa decided to leave that career behind to create authentic dolls for children of color because she wanted children to have dolls that looked like them.

EPI World of Play

Black Owned Toys The Fresh Dolls Review

In 2003, Dr. Lisa formed the World of Entertainment, Publishing and Inspiration (World of EPI) with the mission of spreading joy by providing children with dolls that inspire dreams, promote intelligence and build self-esteem.

Currently their collections include The Fresh Dolls, Marvel Studios Wakanda Forever Fresh Fierce Collection, The Fresh Squad, Rock The Bells, Fresh Fairies and Fresh Inspirations. Discover all of the doll collections at Freshdolls.com.

How to Support Black Owned Businesses

During the month of February, people often share black owned companies like The Fresh Dolls and use the hashtag, buy black, when sharing on social media because it encourages people to seek out and support black owned businesses throughout the year.

I mentioned earlier that you can find the Wankada collection at Target. This company is known for celebrating Black History Month and showcasing black own artists’ creations on their clothing racks and home goods shelves. Check out how Target celebrates black history month

There are many ethnic skincare companies like Kinlo Skincare from emerging tennis legend Naomi Osaka. Check out the Kinlo Skincare review.

  1. I saw the Wankanda dolls too and thought they were gorgeous! This is a good brand of dolls that we should be supporting.
