Boys and shopping aren’t typically two words that you hear in the same sentence. I was over the moon with excitement when we found out that we would be welcoming our sons into the world but I will admit that the idea of bonding over shopping for cute clothes seemingly went out the window. For starters, my boys aren’t picky in the slightest about what they wear. As long as it is comfortable, they’re happy. It doesn’t have to be “in style,” it doesn’t even have to match. However, from a parent’s perspective, I’ve found that shopping for boys’ clothing is almost as difficult as having a toddler choose a matching, weather appropriate outfit suitable for school or a trip out into public.
I’m sure that you’ve all seen it. The stores all have massive sections for little girls that include just about every style of clothing, for various occasions, some for play and some for dressier occasions, so much more, and even an incredible array of shoes to match. For the boys, however, it always tends to be the same – jeans, cargo shorts, some goofy character t-shirt, and sneakers.
That is until now anyway.
Please allow me to introduce you to The Good Ones.

The Good Ones is a new clothing company that celebrates boys; the rough ones, the rowdy ones, the silly ones, the playful ones, the mischievous ones, the adventurous ones… The Good Ones.
Started as a creative partnership – and a brand-new company – by the founders of One Lucky Guitar (a design and marketing boutique) and Matilda Jane Clothing, we exist to fulfill a pretty singular purpose: to create products celebrating the kids that light the fireworks in our souls.
Recently, my boys and I had the opportunity to get our hands on the recently released Stringing Up the Stars collection.
Now, for the most part, I am rather apprehensive when it comes to trying new clothing brands for my boys. I’ve gotten used to everything being the “same old, same old” so to speak but I was pleasantly surprised when our shipment from The Good Ones arrived on our doorstep. For starters – A+ and then some for packaging! I was excited with that alone!

The adorable “super cool” (in my kids’ words) packages served as a precursor for what we’d soon lay our eyes on. Each of the boys was provided with their own mini packages within the box and, of course, tore into them as if it were Christmas morning. Inside, we found some of the most amazing children’s clothing that was surely designed with rock star little boys in mind.
The folks over at The Good Ones encourage adventure, dream chasing, and make believe even going as far as to create their very own make believe rock band. It is that kind of spirit that goes into each and every piece of clothing and it is something that can be clearly seen. The passion they have for providing children with spectacular clothing is the same passion that our children have for life. That in itself makes it great because it makes it enjoyable.
The clothes, well, they speak for themselves.

Both boys each received a complete outfit of their own and now have matching jackets to sport. If you’re looking for a little shopping list, the items seen here are as follows:
- Coast-to-Coast Tee
- Dreamer Shorts
- Everything is Good Tee
- T-G-O-Rama Pants
- World Tour Jacket
Of the bunch, my favorite item is probably the Coast-to-Coast Tee. We live along the coast so the theme of the shirt fits in rather well. I love that, with this particular shirt, you can make of it what you like. For some, it could be seen as a treasure map of sorts for the wild, little pirates while, for others, it could depict The Good Ones make believe band – The Final Hurrahs – and their rock star lifestyle as they rock and roll across the country making us all tap along to their beat. My favorite part of this particular shirt is the way in which they’ve done the stitching. It’s not just another cliché screen printed tee. Each of the “x marks the spot” locations are displayed with its own raised stitch making it cool to see and even cooler to wear.

In addition to the designs, The Good Ones clothing line is made rather well. As the mom of boys, I am all too familiar with the cliché rough and tumble kind of play. Between the two of them, we have been through an infinite amount of clothes that just don’t make the cut for one reason or another. So far, the items that we received from The Good Ones collection have held up rather well despite those playground tumbles, the backyard bike rides, the incessant running and jumping, and the crazy play that my boys are known for. The stitching is pristine, the fabric is strong, and the colors are bright. These clothes are certainly made for children.
While much of the line seems to be catered to little boys, it’s more unisex really. Both girls and boys can be rock stars. We all can! The Good Ones isn’t just a clothing line; it’s a way of life.

Each piece encourages children (and adults!) to live a little, to get outside, to get dirty, to dream, to play, to have fun, to use your imagination, to simply enjoy life, and to enjoy one another.
So here’s a line for their imagination, for their joy, for giggles and for eyes that twinkle. For creativity and adventure, for catching snakes and carrying frogs in pockets, for carving names on a tree, for chores (and allowance), for homeruns (and strikeouts), for dancing and, yep, for rock & roll. Let’s hear it for your boys and ours. Let’s hear it for The Good Ones.
I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to share such a wonderful brand with all of you and even more excited to have been able to allow my children the opportunity to enjoy it. Clothes should not restrict us; instead, clothes should give us an outlet for self-expression. The Good Ones does exactly that and in a fantastically “good” way. Jumpstart your child’s imagination and give them the opportunity to express themselves as they see fit with help from The Good Ones. After all, we could all use a little bit of that rock and roll spark in our lives!
