The Sound of Music on DVD

These movies are bringing back some pretty happy memories of my childhood!  Yesterday I posted about Chitty Chitty Bang Bang being released on Blu-Ray on November 2nd, and today I bring you another blast from the past!

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment toasts the 45th anniversary of the five-time Academy Award®-winning The Sound Of Music with its highly anticipated Blu-ray Disc debut November 2. Starring Oscar® winner Julie Andrews in one of her most memorable roles, the film adaptation of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical follows Maria, a spirited young woman who leaves a convent and becomes a governess to seven unruly children. Her charm and songs soon win the hearts of the children and their father but when Nazi Germany unites with Austria, Maria is forced to attempt a daring escape with her new family.

I remember watching this with my mom, and we’d sing and sing {The hilllls are aliveeeeeee with the sound of muuuuuuuusic – insert music notes here}. Ironically enough, when she and I went to Europe for my high school graduation present from my dad, we stood on the exact hills where this was filmed. I wish I could find the picture to post here. She was SO excited, and it really was a once in a lifetime thing. I am thrilled that The Sound of Music is coming to blu-ray, and I hope I can share the same special moments with my daughter.

  3. Oh my gosh I got giddy seeing this giveaway. I’ve always been a fan of SOM, and all 3 of my kiddos are as well. When I was pregnant with my first child, I would watch it over and over and she would dance away, when she was born and I’d have it on, she’d stop and listen. It was amazing.

  7. I’m excited about this movie because this is the first movie my mom took my sister and me to see when it came out. We went with our neighbor and her 3 daughters. I remember we all just sat there mesmerized by it. It’s still one of my favorites. Thanks for the chance.

  37. This my most favorite movie in the whole wide world. I grew up with this movie as a kid because it was my Mom’s favorite movie. She loved musicals. I only have a VHS copy of it, and to have this one would be absolutely wonderful & I had have tears of joys to remember such wonderful childhood memories.

  89. The Sound of Music has been my favorite movie since I was a young girl. The one and only fan letter I have ever written was to Maria Von Trapp. Mrs. Von Trapp kindly responded with a note, which I still have. I sang the Theme song from the movie for my senior year Pop Concert solo in a Maria dress my mother made for me. I would treasure the 45th anniversary edition. Thanks!

  120. I watched this movie as a kid with my mom. So this really brings back memories and my mom use to sing the songs from the movie to me when it was bed time. I now have a daughter who will be watching this movie as well and I hope she loves it just as much as I did and still do.

Its my all time favorite, I fell in love with it when i was in middle school because we were required to watch it. unfortunately my copy has been ruined for a few years now, because when my son was little he watched this movie NON STOP and wore it out. 🙁 So I would really love to win.

  350. Our family loves this movie. The kids became interested in it last year after we went to see the Von Trapp Children (great grandkids of the Captain) perform. We were able to see them again in October.
