#1 Brain Food
I had no idea one book could be so impactful. I also did not know food is impacting my cognition and general brain function. I heard Dr. Lisa Mosconi speak on a podcast one day and she shared a list of foods that are good for your brain, and also a list of what is harming them it a daily basis. Our brains have this function where they only take in certain nutrients and they block out certain things from entering, which is our blood brain barrier. I recommend you looking up Dr. Mosconi and seeing all her incredible work in the world of dementia. Its fascinating and life-changing. I highly recommend her book if you want some practical foods to start implementing today to improve your cognition.
#2 This is your brain on food
“It’s time to understand that we are what we eat” – Dr. Uma Naidoo’s website. Okay, if that doesn’t make you question everything you eat, I don’t know what will. Dr. Naidoo is the expert in how our moods are impacted by what we are eating. She is a nutritional psychiatrist at Harvard and wrote her book, “this is your brain on food“. Its a must read. If you could improve your anxiety, depression, fear, etc. by changing your diet, would you? I know I would and she makes it so simple anyone can understand and start making improvements.
#3 The end of Alzheimer’s
I just learned that Dr. Dale Bredesen has come up with a way to treat and prevent Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Why is this not all over the news?! He has been studying his patients that do his protocol for 9 years now and he can honestly report that they are the first survivors of this disease. In fact, he just wrote another book about it called, “The First Survivors of Alzheimer’s”. I have seen someone die from this horrible disease that has no cure. The fact that this Doctor has come up with an answer, and is finding the root cause of this disease leaves me speechless. It gives me hope for our future. Please read his book and share it!
#4 Grain Brain
I will admit, I have not read this book (but, I know several who have). I am a BIG fan of Dr. David Perlmutter. He has a podcast and has written a lot of books on the subject of the brain. Most people consider him the brain expert. He understands how our brains are being influenced every day, not only from our food but from our environment and our stressors. He covers a lot of subjects on his website ranging from mental health, diabetes, MS, ADHD, etc. You can learn so much from just reading his articles or listening to his podcast.
