I love trying new products and was pretty excited to try out the Total Beauty Collection for HSN. The 9 piece sampler would retail for $60 but you can purchase directly from HSN for just $19,95 with free shipping.
Included in the Total Beauty sampler box was:
- Benefit The POREfessional Pore Primer
- Perlier Shea Butter Hand Cream
- Serious Skincare Glycolic Gommage Exfoliating Facial
- Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara – Black
- Elysee YouthSpan Enviro-Shield Tinted Veil
- Wei East China Herbal Intensive Eye Pads
- Carol’s Daughter Monoi Oil Sacred Strength Hair Serum
- M Asam VinoLift Skin Tightening Cream
- Trish McEvoy Eye Base Essentials – Bare
What do I think of this box? There are products, for me, that are definitely worth a second look. First off Benefit The POREfessional Pore Primer. After using it one time I realized that I wish the sample were bigger. I get “sample” but I would have liked to use it more than just a few days. It went on easy and did what it was designed to do, minimize the appearance of pores. Benefit is already in my makeup bag, I love their products, and this is one that I might use my $10 off coupon (beauty product $29 or more) that came with the Total Beauty Box to buy a full size. While at the beach for a week I realized that I had forgotten my lotion. What? I knew that I would have to run out and get more but I needed something ASAP and luckily the Perlier Shea Butter Hand Cream was along with me. I know that it is hand cream but in a pinch it is a wonderful lotion for your legs. It does not have a strong scent, goes on beautifully, and kept my skin moisturized and soft. Love! The $15 for the full sized 3.3 oz is a bit on my high end but I would for sure splurge once in a while. Good stuff!
Let’s talk about the makeup that was included. The Trish McEvoy Eye Base Essentials was a product I wasn’t familiar with. It was a bit too light for my skin tone (wish I could have tried the correct color) but it glided on nicely and provided a good base for the eye shadow I put on. It covers nicely, lightens your lid, and stays put during the day. If I wore more eye shadow this would be in my bag for sure, but in the Sand or Linen color. I was excited to test out the Elysee YouthSpan Enviro-Shield Tinted Veil for 2 words, Enviro-Shield and Tinted. I have some spots on my face from Melasma. Trying to cover them and also having a more natural look is tough. Being 42 I know the importance of protecting our skin so an Enviro-Shield had me opening the jar right away. The verdict is out for me on this product. The coverage is very light so I did what others that reviewed it did and put my foundation over the top. Then I searched for how the veil actually protected your skin from sun exposure and I couldn’t find anything. Curious. The reviews are very good for this product and many see great results but I would not purchase without knowing it was actually protecting my skin from EV rays. It goes on smooth and gives a bit of a glow to your skin (alone without foundation) which is nice. Finally, the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. With a name like that it better be pretty good right? True to it’s name I really liked the mascara. Didn’t clump on my lashes nor did it flake off when I wore it during the day. I have had my tried and true mascara for many years now but would give this one a chance for sure, especially since they are the same price of $23.00.
Lastly, the creams and serums. I find that my hair does so much better with frizz when I use an oil. The Carol’s Daughter Monoi Oil Sacred Strength Hair Serum is on sale right now for $22.50 which could actually change my mind on which product to spend my $10 off a full size item coupon that came with my Total Beauty sampler box. Love the oil, love the smell, wish the sample was bigger. There was enough for one application on my very long, very thick, wavy hair but I would really have loved to try it a 2nd time. Luckily HSN has a decent return policy and you may return the item within 30 days of the date of receipt for a full refund including the original shipping and handling so trying new products are basically risk free. I only have used the M Asam VinoLift Skin Tightening Cream for about a week. I don’t love the smell but I don’t hate it either. It reminds me of the cream my grandmother might have used but with all of today’s advances packed inside. For me I didn’t find it greasy, it hasn’t made me have any crazy breakouts, but I am not seeing any results yet. What, after a week? I know I need to use it a bit longer because it is getting really great reviews on HSN and for just $34.95 it is a very affordable skin tightening cream. Put this one on your list to try ladies! The last 2 products, Serious Skincare Glycolic Gommage Exfoliating Facial and Wei East China Herbal Intensive Eye Pads I have not tried because I have very sensitive skin and there are so many skin products like this that lead me to break out. I will tell you that the Wei East China Herbal Intensive Eye Pads are getting great reviews so far. Women are saying that it is ah-mazing! The Serious Skincare Glycolic Gommage Exfoliating Facial has a 4.4 out of 5 rating by 139 reviewers saying:
“This product really does leave your skin looking brighter and better. Love it.”
“love this mask! My skin looks so much better after using it. My problem is that I do not use it enough—trying to conserve. Best Serious Skin Care product.”
That last comment is so me! I love something and try to save it. Maybe I will give it a try yet.
Overall, I am happy that I got this opportunity to try some great products. I wish that each of them were a deluxe size but you are given enough of many to perhaps find a new favorite beauty product. If you are like me, that is worth it’s weight in gold right there!
The Total Beauty Collection for HSN can be purchased through November. Give it as a gift to a good friend this holiday season or keep it for yourself, better yet buy one for your friend AND yourself.
