I love salad. There is something about the cold, crisp lettuce and cold veggies that just tastes good. May it is because I know I am eating something good for me. Maybe it is because I like the crunch. Perhaps it is just the whole shebang! Who knows. I do know, however, that when I eat a Shrimp Louie Salad, I get all kinds of excited. It is kind of like a flavor and texture overload – but in a good way. Although there are all kinds of goodies in a Shrimp and Crab Louie Salads, the star of the show is really the Seafood Louie dressing.
Traditional Seafood Louie Dressing resembles Thousand Island Salad dressing. In fact, many people confuse the two. If you’re in a hurry, I suppose you could use the latter. As far as seafood for your salad, it really depends on your preferences as to what kind you put on yours. I am a huge shellfish fan, so it will always be crab or bay {baby} shrimp for me. Fun fact – here in Oregon, Bay/baby Shrimp are called “Pink Shrimp”. They are so tiny and tender, and they have such light, delicate flavor.
This seafood salad dressing is really simple to make. Most of the ingredients you will probably already have on hand too. The creaminess of the dressing comes from a combination of the mayonnaise and cream, and the “zip” of the sauce it from the Worcestershire sauce, lemon and chili sauce. Add a little lemon juice and the finished product is amazing.
Not to brag, but I do believe I make the tastiest Louie dressing around. Whether you like Crab Louie or Shrimp Louie or a combination of both, this dressing will knock your socks off!

Now, I mentioned above that I think this the best Seafood Louie Dressing around. I also think my Shrimp Louie Salad is pretty darned amazing. Most likely because of all of the goodies I put on top. I load up the bowl with lettuce, and then load more delicious items on top {including tender bay shrimp}, before adding the creamy seafood sauce. Check out everything else I put on my Shrimp Louie Salad!
One of the items is homemade croutons – oh my. Crispy outside and chewy inside. You won’t find anything like this at the store!
