New Social Networking Sites
I don’t know if my brain can keep up with the new “must-have” sites that seem to appear daily. Â I twitch just a little when I see something else pop-up that I know I will have to master in the near future, or risk being an outcast. Â A blogger has to be knowledgeable about these things right?
Facebook – I actually understand Facebook. Does it annoy me frequently? Sure. Especially when I can’t post my own links on my own fan page. But I hang in there.
Twitter – Yep, I’m familiar with this one too, although I don’t especially care for it. I can never remember Twitter ID’s to @ someone. Unless I am replying to someone on Twitter, I will rarely @ someone. It’s nothing personal, it is more of a mental block I have. Â I tend to hop on Twitter a couple of times a day, and that’s it. Â Usually just to tweet my giveaways.
TweetAdder – I still haven’t tried this and honestly don’t care.
StumbleUpon – I am slowly learning. I know how beneficial “stumbling” can be for blogs, and I have seen the results when one of my posts got stumbled by a certain someone. That was pretty amazing! Since then, however, I can’t seem to get anything really going from StumbleUpon. I do give others thumbs up, and I have found some really interesting posts thanks to Stumble Upon!
Triberr – Say what? I keep getting invites, and I wish I could *poof* magically know what to do. I will have to invest some time (and that’s the big problem – time) into learning what to do with this.
Spotify – I have no idea what this is.
+K (Klout) – I understand the premise of Klout, and I have seen others give me a +K (I think that’s what it is called). I decided to return the favor but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how. Sorry guys – I am working on it.
Google + – Ummm it’s an awful lot like Facebook, except strangers can add you to their “circles”? I don’t like that idea much. I do actually like that I can group people in circles – that part I get. I haven’t had much time to really dig deep and find out everything that Google + has to offer, but I do think I might enjoy it. Or then again, it could go by the wayside like Google Buzz did and I will have completely wasted my time.
Pinterest – This is kind of neat! I have pinned a few things that I like. As far as choosing if I am the only one who can pin stuff on my boards – I think I should be the only one right? Or am I wrong? I have this vision of people pinning crap all over my boards. Obviously I haven’t played around with Pinterest too much 🙂
Am I alone in feeling completely out of the loop with these things? I swear, they kind of make me feel incompetent. There is a huge list of other sites (the names escape me now), but I hear about them every day. Oh and let’s not forget new sites/groups to join too! I have a hard enough time keeping my head above water with my blog and daily life – but each day someone wants me to join this or do that. ACK – stop the insanity!
Am I leaving anything out? What are your thoughts, and how do you keep up with these new social networking sites?

Hahaha I hear ya loud and clear hun LOUD and clear. OK spotify is pretty cool it is like a free itunes basically and for a small monthly fee it IS itunes because it allows you to download unlimited music commercial free to all of your devices.
I have never heard of Tribrr, Klout I like Pinterest is cool, Google plus I am still figuring out and prefer Facebook still.
Oh thank goodness I am not alone!! Spotify sounds pretty neat – I will have to check that one out (since it’s music lol).
Have a great weekend!
Triberr is pretty simple…so far. Basically you get into a Tribe. You add your RSS and when you post, that post goes out to you and your Tribe members Twitter feed. So if that entire group has a Twitter following of 28K ppl, that’s how many people it will go out to. Then you’re able to make 3 Tribes of your own with the people YOU choose.
Spotify is awesome! I just started using it last week after my invitation from Klout. My oldest daughter said it’s like Pandora (which I’ve never used). You are pretty much creating a playlist. It’s free at the smallest level because it will occasionally share adds while your music is streaming. You can get a higher account to be able to share your music with your mp3 and such. I’ve created my playlist and it just rotates through the list at no cost.
Klout is still something we’re all trying to figure out, like Google PR. LOL You’re given a list of topics that no one understands how they get. I have topics like: #gno, parenting, Minnesota, blogging…and, wait for it…Muppets! LOL In one of the groups I’m part of, we all have some obscure word in our list. You keep up your Klout score by being active on Twitter and FB. My Klout score vscillates between 65-70. Easy to lose numbers, hard to get them back. Depending on your Klout, you’re eligible for KloutPerks which are private inviations for products or opportunities. I just got the opp to join Spotify before anyone else and to invite 5 other people to join. I was also given a year supply of Secret deodorant. Wasn’t sure if I should be offended or thankful!
StumbleUpon & Google+ are still a bit foreign to me, but I’m slightly involved. I love Pinterest. Just wish I’d remember to use it more often! I don’t believe people can pin to YOUR boards. They can re-pin something, leave a comment, or like it, but not put something actually ON your boards. That’d be lame!
Well, I hope I’ve helped a little bit. Have a great Friday!
You have helped a lot – thank you! I think I understand Tribbr now, thanks to you – that makes sense, and sounds like a great way to promote.
I got the dedodorant from Klout too (yeah, I’m trying not to be offended), and actually I think that is pretty neat. Klout seems easy to use, and I have no ideas what “words” I am, but I doubt it’s Muppets 🙂
Spotify I definitely need to check out. I love music, but I’m actually not crazy about Pandora (I’m probably the only person in the world who doesn’t rave about it).
Thank you!
For me it’s the time issue; writing posts for two blogs, trying to return comments, visiting forums, managing a small farm. I just don’t have the time to keep up with all of it.
I think that is part of my problem too. If I didn’t blog, I would have more time. But then again, if I didn’t blog, I probably wouldn’t even need to know about any of these things lol.
Finally, I am not alone! My problem is that I have problems understanding the simple ones that everyone seems to get~like Pinterest. I really like it, but I don’t know how to do anything but pin, and I’m still confused.
I really want to understand Stumbleupon, but I haven’t figured it out yet.
I have never heard of Klout, Spotify, or now Google+!!
Gotta go…..I have a lot of reading and investigating to do.!!!
Thanks
Yes, you had better get busy! Ummm Pinterest – I thought that’s all we are supposed to do is pin stuff? Apparently I don’t understand it as well as I thought. Crap – I’d better start investigating too!
I sort of understand most of this, the problem is there isn’t enough time in the day. I start stumbling posts and realize an hour later I forgot to start dinner.
I feel exactly the same way about all the things you mentioned. Stumble Upon is the one that I know should be able to help us all out, and I am slowly learning how to use it, but darned if I know that’s it’s actually helping my blog. TeeHee
