When my current cordless phone went to the great electronic graveyard we were stuck using our wall phone. Don’t laugh, it was a totally cool phone that hubs got me YEARS ago. Doesn’t matter that I was attached to the wall right? Yes friends it does. This isn’t the 90’s anymore. When I had the opportunity to review the VTech LS6475-3 Cordless Answering System I jumped at the chance and then after it was delivered literally jumped up and down.
The VTech LS6475-3 ($99.95) utilizes the latest available frequency band. Now, I don’t know much about the technical features of electronic devices but this interference-free technology provides superior sound and voice quality as well and a higher protection against eavesdropping. I have used the phone both upstairs and downstairs and the reception and clarity are perfect.
Our VTech LS6475-3 phone has everything you could ask for in a phone and I tore into the packaging and put them on the bases to charge. Minutes later the phone rang and that was when I heard a voice tell me “Call from XXXX, Rachael” (XXX’s are because I don’t want to tell my girlfriend’s last name). WHAT? Did my new phone just tell me who was calling? Cool feature? That is just the beginning this phone system has to offer.
The Cordless Handset is another feature that I have been using a ton. As a busy mom I am multi-tasking all day long. Now if I am on the phone I can just continue what I am doing, without having to worry about holding the phone or enduring the dreaded sore neck from holding it between my ear and shoulder. I’m sure you have done that before. Well no more! The incredibly comfortable headset was easy to put on, had very clear reception, and has a mute button.
Our girls are too young yet to have a phone in their room but the next feature I am going to mention would be excellent if you did have older kiddos or even if you wanted to tell your husband something when he was upstairs and you down. Well I guess you could yell but this VTech phone has a walkie talkie type feature called Push-To-Talk. We have been testing it and it is pretty slick. Great sound quality and very easy to use as you just Push-To-Talk.
Do you remember when there were separate answering machines? Not anymore. Can you even get a phone that doesn’t have an answering system on it? The VTech LS6475-3 has 14 full minutes recording time. The digital system will answer calls when you can’t. It has a large backlit message counter that alerts you to the number of messages waiting. Right now it is telling me I have 12 because we haven’t been around much these past 2 days. Note to self – “Go listen to your messages Jessie!!”
The VTech LS6475-3 is also expandable. That is a feature I have never seen before on a home phone system. Maybe you need more than the 2 handsets. No problem because the system accommodates up to 12 cordless handsets (sold separately) using only 1 phone jack. I have three girls so one day I am sure I will take advantage of this.
My overall opinion is that the VTech LS6475-3 is a lot of phone for the money ($99.95 msrp). There are just so many features that you might not think you need but are so very handy in our busy everyday lives. VTech is a trusted brand in our family and if you are considering a new cordless phone look no further because the LS6475-3 is your phone.
