Nosh with We Take The Cake

October 4, 2012 by Erin 13 Comments

There’s just something about cake. Perhaps because of its heavy connection to celebrations, cake just has a way of making me smile. No matter the day, set a slice of cake in front of me and I’m one happy girl.

We Take The Cake sent our family a Red Velvet Bundt Cake to nosh on {yes, they’re kosher!}. This cake serves up to eight people and is priced at $28. It arrived in a lovely round box, which has since been claimed by our four year old to stash odds and ends in. The cake came unfrosted, with the frosting is kept in a separate container nestled in the middle of the cake. Unfortunately for picture’s sake, I am a klutz with frosting so my cake wasn’t the prettiest. But it was delish!

Red Velvet is one of my favorites for a reason. The velvety texture, the deep crimson color… but by far my favorite part about Red Velvet cake is the cream cheese frosting. Not so sweet to overpower the cake – just the right balance. I almost wish the frosting portion was larger, but that may be the glutton in me talking.

We Take The Cake is located in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and serves the local community for wedding and custom cakes. However, they also ship bundt cakes, layer cakes and cupcakes nationwide. They started slow after the bakery was founded in 1997, but became one of Oprah’s Favorite Things in 2004.

Whether you have something to celebrate or just want to serve a tasty dessert for your family next week, We Take The Cake has so many fresh baked gourmet cakes to choose from! I definitely want to try Oprah’s favorite: Key Lime Bundt Cake and the Pumpkin Lemon Ginger Cake, which is October’s featured flavor. They both sound too good to pass up.

I still have yet to eat a piece of red velvet cake. I was told there was a LOT of red food coloring in it though. Is that safe for kids to eat that much? I avoided for that reason but am wondering if they use other types of natural coloring like concentrated from fruits like berries maybe? I’d sure love to try some of their others like the Key Lime Bundt cake. Yum!

Red velvet cake is awesome! Cake makes me happy and so does ice cream. Together, the two combined are the perfect party in my mouth.

I love cake. I should have more children so I have an excuse to eat it more often! I go to weddings for the cake, not the food, entertainment, drinks or to be social. It’s definitely all about the cake, in all seriousness.

You had me at Red Velvet Cake! It’s also my daughters all time favotite and she always asks for it for her Birthday. I’m not the best at baking and I’ve heard these are really moist cakes. They also come packed so pretty! 🙂
