While they need a lot of time and care, new-born babies are actually quite low maintenance when compared to older children. At first, they mainly need sleep, food and comfort- three things that are easy to provide. However, providing these necessities get even simpler when you are well-prepared.

Some parts will come naturally to a new parent, and arranging for a new-born can be a breeze once you know exactly what to look for. Not everything is a given, and that is why this article seeks to inform you about what you will need when the new-born arrives. Also we’ll discuss a few myths that you can ignore.

Essential Items to Buy When Expecting a New-Born Baby

The most essential items to buy for your new-born are tied to the three needs of your baby; sleep, food and comfort. When it comes to sleep, a cot is the easiest route to take. These high-barred beds rarely change in design; therefore, it doesn’t matter which one you buy. You can’t go wrong when selecting your baby’s bed, and you can even build your own if you’re daring enough. All you need then is a small mattress and a blanket.

Secondly, you can choose to feed your baby in one of two ways; with formula or by breastfeeding. Whichever way you choose, you are still going to need to have some bottles around for late feeds and travel. These devices are easy to find, as bottle feeding isn’t as uncommon as it once was.
Last of all, a baby’s comfort can come from a number of places. Hugs from the parent are nice, but you can’t cuddle them when they are sleeping. That is why the type of clothes you buy is important. Baby grows are always the optimal choice, and they come in all sorts of styles and colours. Another part of comfort comes from the nappies you buy. Keep an eye out for how your child reacts to find the optimal nappy brand for your baby.

Other Baby Accessories

The next rung on the baby accessory ladder is the list of accessories that you should keep a look out for. For example, baby bibs, baby socks, wet wipes, baby powder, baby hats, baby blankets, and baby burp cloths are essential when the time is right. You might not use these items every day, but they are handy to have at the ready. Plus, accessories such as socks and hats are essential for every baby that help to regulate baby’s body temperature.  So you want to make sure you get good quality products that will make the babies comfy and cozy.

With the extreme weathers happening lately, temperature can go from 90F to 40F within days, so it is quite important to find accessories made for different weathers.  We are often reminded to buy quality and not quantity these days.  So I found Babysoy which uses azlon from soy fabric to make baby clothes as well as baby accessories.  The soy fabric is a sustainable fabric that has great warmth retention and it is breathable at the same time so it will keep wearer warm but without over heating at the same time.

 Movement

Your new-born will not be up and about by themselves for a long time, but you still need to get them out of the house. Prams are the most obvious choice for this; however, they are not the only choice. A papoose is a device that allows the baby to hang from the parent’s front or back to save them from carrying them around in their arms. What’s more, babies can sleep anywhere. Sending your little one to sleep as you stroll around can be soothing for both the baby and parent. Therefore, a baby carrier might be the way to go. There is a wide variety of baby carriers online, just in case you wanted to give pushing a pram a break.

Things You Can Miss

Everyone will have their own opinion when it comes to raising children, and that’s what makes us all so unique. However, there are still some things you can avoid buying when expecting a baby. Once example of this is a baby towel. It is nice to look upon a tiny piece of fabric and think of it drying your new-born. What could be cuter? These pieces of fabric are unnecessary, and regular sized towel will work just as well.

Also, there are some places online that sell baby hairbrushes. Again, these look and sound cute, but are completely obsolete. Not many new-borns are delivered with a full head of hair, and a regular sized hairbrush will do the job for the few that are.

While you may want to visit Babysoy and buy your new-born socks to keep their feet warm, you certainly do not need to purchase a pair of shoes. As mentioned before, your baby will spend most of their time outside in a pram or baby carrier. There is no need to protect their feet with expensive shoes.

Instead of using your money on these items, it is best to save it for the useful baby accessories in the sections above.

Every new parent ends up being great at their job, no matter what approach they take. Keep in mind the essential baby accessories in this article and avoid anything that you feel is unnecessary. Mum knows best, after all.
