It was recently National Game & Puzzle Week – what better way to celebrate than with an extremely fun (and funny) game called ‘You’re Pulling my Leg!”. This hilarious game is really clever, and a great way for friends and family to get to know more about each other…or not. There is a a new edition of the original game available now – ‘You’re Pulling my Leg!’ Junior edition.
I say “or not” because your friend or family member could also be telling a little making something up that isn’t necessarily something that has really happened to them.
They won’t know which way to answer, however, until a coin is flipped, which tells them if their answer should be true or made up. Aha!
When I first read about how this game is played I started laughing hysterically. I happened to be glancing through the book at the time, at some of the questions, and just imagining some of the made up stories that myself and my family and friends would be coming up with. Although we know quite a bit about each other, there is still plenty to learn. As a matter-of-fact, just the other night I was telling my husband about something that happened long before I met him, and we were both laughing, saying how surprising it was that he hadn’t heard that one before!
How do you play ‘You’re Pulling My Leg’ Junior?
A first storyteller is chosen, and the storyteller chooses a card (starting on page 1) and reads three questions out loud. They decide which question they want to answer. A coin is flipped and which way the coin lands determines whether the storyteller will be telling a true story, or whether they will be making up a story. When players hear a story, they vote points on if they think a player is telling the truth or pulling their leg {players start with 7 points each at the beginning of the game}. Players win points if they are right but they lose them if they are wrong. Players try to bluff others and try not to let other players fool them. Obviously there is a lot of tomfoolery taking place! The first player to 21 points wins.
What kind of questions are in ‘You’re Pulling My Leg’ Junior edition game?
The wonderful thing about these books is that they can be played in person or remotely. When played remotely, players simply choose a question from the cards within the book!
I also love that these are portable, unlike other games. There aren’t a bunch of pieces and parts to lose. Just pack it up and go! Kids and adults will have so much fun together with this book – I absolutely love it!
What ages is ‘You’re Pulling my Leg’ Junior best for?
You’re Pulling My Leg game Junior edition is for ages 9 to adult. It is for 2 or more players.
If you are looking for a REALLY fun holiday gift idea, this is it! Kids between the ages of 9 and 14 are especially hard to buy for (in my opinion), but this is a gift they will really enjoy. They can play with their friends or family or both! It is perfect for family game night!
This game has received many accolades – and was chosen as Child Magazine’s Toy of the Year Award! It’s no wonder, I supposed, since it is from award-winning game creator Allen Wolf. Thanks to him, it is possible to play with friends during these times of social distancing. This is a great way for students to get to know their classmates remotely. Times sure are different right now! That goes for dating too. The original edition is perfect for these current times of social distancing and isolation. Because of the pandemic, many people are using online platforms for dating. Singles and couples can have the chance to get to know each other with these questions they might not otherwise have asked!
