Play Anywhere with Zume Games Tenniz – Review

It’s warm outside! No, really! After freezing weather, snow, and rain, we have one random nice day. As much as I’d love to go outside and enjoy it, unfortunately, the ground is still saturated and the leaves strewn across my yard are still soaked. It’s a nice little bit of a warm up but not quite the nice day we had been hoping for. Alas, it still has me dreaming of spring. Now I love the beautiful snow and the holiday decorations just as much as the next person but, after having lived in the south for a while, I am definitely not one for the cold weather. I’m much more of a smell the roses, walk along the beach, soak in the sun kind of girl. Odd as it may seem, our winter holidays actually coincide with that.

With little ones, (when the weather cooperates) we are almost always outside. So, of course, most of their holiday gift requests tend to be for the outdoors. We have the swing set, the slides, the kiddie pool and then some. However, after a trick-or-treating trip in a very well to do neighborhood, the kids have been asking Santa for a tennis court this year. Now, obviously, that is not something that is easily obtained so I had only planned to get them some rackets and take them to the local park. That was until I learned of Zume Games.

Zume Games is a fun little company that specializes in outdoor active play games. Skip the video games, get off the couch, and head outside. In cold weather or warmth, Zume Games certainly has something for you. Recently, as per my children’s request, Zume Games recently sent me their Tenniz game.

In all honesty, I’ve never really been much of a fan of the sport. As an avid softball player, my tennis swing is comparable to a Happy Gilmore golf swing. Unless the goal is to burn a hole through the net or trying to peg your opponent with the ball, it’s pretty useless. Thankfully, having our own court right at home – at a fraction of the price, might I add – will help me fix that. Seriously though, we have our own court? How awesome is that?

Now, while it is ideally designed for driveway use, we actually have ours set up in the backyard. In our case, we haven’t fenced in our yard just yet and I’m not too fond of the idea of having my little ones playing in the driveway at their ages. Oddly enough, however, the winter weather coupled with the frozen solid ground actually makes for a nice “court” surface. I certainly don’t recommend making any diving swings on it but it works great for that nice little tennis ball bounce.

Since this has been a much requested “from Santa” item, we have yet to let the kids play with it. Daddy and I secretly set it up the other night after the kids had gone to bed and I’m actually quite surprised that we didn’t accidentally wake them with the amount of fun we had. The last time I had played tennis was back in high school so it was an exciting blast from the past. I will admit that we did have a few “peg one another with the ball” moments, but it was all in good fun. Playing in the shadows of our backyard flood lights, we had an absolute blast!

Zume Games Tenniz

The Tenniz kit from Zume Games comes with a 12-foot net, two 21-inch rackets, two balls, and a carrying case. Recommended for ages eight and up, it is the perfect gift for anyone with a love of the sport. With Tenniz you can master your serve on a smaller court and, quite literally, take it anywhere. The entire contents pack up nicely within the carrying case for portable play wherever you may go.

After seeing Tenniz set up in my own yard, I realized that (for the little ones) this Zume Games product is actually quite versatile. Considering its height, it is a great tool to teach the younger children about other sports such as volleyball and badminton. Typically, these sports are out of the question for the little, little ones due to the height of the net used. Zume Games Tenniz, however, is also great for introducing smaller children to the “big kid games.”

I cannot wait for the warmer weather to get here so that we can get outside and enjoy the fresh air as a family. As the perfect size for, both, kids and adults, I am looking forward to much fun to be had. With boys, they are quite energetic and centered on sports. I am thrilled to finally be able to introduce them to a wider range of sports starting, now, with Tenniz. Our new Tenniz game will easily be the highlight of all birthday parties and summer picnics to come. Until then, since the game can be played on just about any flat surface (outdoors or indoors), you can bet your bottom dollar that we’ll be enjoying it elsewhere… like the garage!

Zume Games Tenniz

I had never heard of Zume Games prior to receiving Tenniz, but I am sure glad that I know of them now. In addition to Tenniz, they offer a wonderful product line of games that you can enjoy as a family. Getting outside and spending quality time with each other in the great outdoors is quite important to my family and I am glad to see that Zume Games encourages that.
