What is your favorite cat litter?

You have heard my thoughts on my fur babies, and how much I LOVE changing their litter boxes (major sarcasm there!), and now I have a few final thoughts for you (and even an admission of guilt).

First the guilt thing. I sometimes put off changing the litter box a little longer than I should. Please tell me you are also guilty of this? I can usually tell when I have waited too long when either the smell becomes a little strong, or the cats start this weird yowling. Sure enough, when I hear this particular yowling, and I check on the litter boxes, they are indeed ready for a change.

I have found that with the Arm & Hammer Double Duty Clumping Cat Litter, that I don’t dread dealing with the boxes nearly as much as I used to. I think part of the reason is that I don’t have to lug the heavy, stinky box outside each time they need changing. I just use a little shovel and scoop the clumps into a plastic grocery bag and voila! My home stays pretty darned fresh smelling, if I do say so myself. The cats and I are both happy about that!

Cats really like to be clean, and they really, really hate dirty, smelly litter boxes.  I have heard that you should have at least one litter box per cat (and even an extra if possible).  Even if the cats end up sharing, they should still have at least one per cat.  I have three indoor kitties, so we have three boxes placed in a quiet room.   You can find more cat litter box tips on the Arm & Hammer site.

To help me in “remembering” when the litter boxes should be checked on, I simply set an alarm on my iPhone. I have found that the reminder helps me immensely, and the job is much easier when tended to frequently.

One other thing that helps with the cats tracking litter everywhere is one of the mats that catch the litter as the kitties step out. This helps my feet too, as I don’t crunch on cat litter when I walk through the room 🙂

  4. I have not yet tried this brand for my kitty, but now I am thinking it may be a better solution than the litter we currently use. 🙂

  5. We have not tried the Arm & Hammer litter. Our cats seem to prefer non-clumping litter. They each have their own box.

  6. I have not tried this. Unfortunately my cats are no longer with us, but if I still had them, I would definitely give this product a try.

  7. I have not tried Arm & Hammer Double Duty Clumping Cat Litter. In all honesty, I don’t know if, at this point, I would … my cat is 10 years old and is pretty particular so I’m afraid changing at this point would cause trouble. If I had a kitten, I would! Thanks for this opportunity!

  9. Yes–I’ve tried the Arm and Hammer Double Duty Clumping litter and both I and the cat think it;s great.

  10. No lie, this is our litter of choice. I often won’t even buy litter somewhere if they don’t have the large size of the double duty. We’ve used the multicat litter in the past, but the double duty actually has better odor control.

  11. No I havent tried it or any of the clumping litter brands yet, over the years my cats seem to prefer Fresh step so we have used it mainly, currently we have 2 cats I tried a few other brands out couple times and they seem to sneeze or cough from the dust so I’ve just stuck to using the same kind, but I am open to trying out the Arm & Hammer Clumping litter and see how they handle it, back when we had 4 cats we had 5 litter boxes and boy is that a huge chore to change them all every week, not to mention all the litter it takes, now we are using only 2 boxes but according to guidelines I’ve read there is supposed to be 1 box per cat plus one extra, I followed that rule with the 4 cats and they did seem to adopt a box for themselves, with the extra box used for occasionally overflow if one was dirtier than normal, I dont know how they decided amongst themselves but they did, cats are very smart animals and can be picky about change so not sure how they would accept a new style of litter but I hope they would adapt to it at some point so its possible that I might try it out

    thanks for the great giveaway

  19. I have not tried it, but it sounds great. Not sure if I’ll be trying it in the future or not at this point.

  20. If I had a cat, I would definitely want to try it! Unfortunately I have a dog and she designated one little corner of the yard as her “litter box”. Thanks for the giveaway. I’ll recommend this product to my sister. She’s the one with the cats!

  22. I can’t be around cats for more than a few hours because of allergies. But my neighbor across the street has a cat and she uses only Arm & Hammer litter. I take care of her cat when she goes on vacation and I scoop the litter daily; her litter box never smells.

  23. I just bought a box of this week – it’s great!
I’m a loyal Arm & Hammer user, it’s my favorite for odors.

  27. Hubby is the one that changes the litter. I don’t think he uses Arm & Hammer. I’m staying out of it, lest he decides we should share that chore!

  28. I have never tried Arm and Hammer cat litter. I’m cautious about changing something as important as cat litter(to the cat-ha ha) Once I added baking soda to the bottom of the litter box, cat would not use the box till it was gone and new litter replaced

  29. I have tried it before, but because I am pretty good about cleaning the box, only buy it when I have a coupon.

  37. We have two kitties but haven’t tried Arm & Hammer litter yet. I’ll have to check it out next time it is on sale:)

  38. I haven’t tried Arm & Hammer Double Duty Clumping Cat Litter, but after your review, I think I will try it as I use an automatic litter box and the litter I presently use does seem to break up into small pebbles and I would like to see if this one doesn’t

  39. I use the double duty all the time as I have 2 cats and it’s the best I have ever tried. I love this stuff. you would never know I had cats

  45. We’ve never tried Arm & Hammer Double Duty Clumping Cat Litter, and we won’t be trying it anytime soon because our cat ran away years ago.

  46. I haven’t tried but I plan on getting some before winter. Why winter? Because the only time we need a litter box is to put it on the porch when the snow is too deep for the cat to go out!

  47. I have not tried this version of their litter, but used to use their scoopable litter back in the 1990’s before I switched to pine litter. We have been having some outside of the litter box problems BOOO! lately though, and may have to switch back to this sort of litter soon. If so, I would definitely try it.

  48. We don’t have a cat anymore. When we did, I’ve never tried this brand, but my sister in law swears by it.

  52. I’ve not tried this kind of cat litter, I usually use the regular non-clumping, but I would be interested to see if my cat would like this clumping litter better.
