Do you have children that are starting to think about college? My girls are a little bit off but as their parents we are already planning by saving money for their tuition. Aside from that though I am clueless as I am sure other families are as well. The College Success Plan gives tips and information on career planning, resume writing, college planning, scholarships, financial aid and much more!

The book is written by Annette Bosley-Boyce who is the Director of Enrollment for the School of Evening and Graduate Programs at Albertus Magnus College. Ms. Boyce brings over twelve years of experience working as a part-time English professor and a college administrator to this easy to understand book filled with exercises to help teens and their parents create their path for college and beyond.

The College Success Plan is a twenty-day program divided into 4 weeks but you can certainly finish earlier than that. During Week 1 Ms. Boyce helps your teen to learn about career interests, values, and skills using daily exercises . She helps direct you to websites where she walks you through surveys to help in your journey.

Week 2 helps you to find a mentor, create a resume (so important for EVERYONE), and shows you how to learn about specifics regarding the path you were heading in from Week 1. Do you really want to attend college for 7 or 8 years? This is the chapter to help narrow your decision a little more as well as giving you a nice section on resume building which includes an entire page of the action verbs you will need to make that resume stand out!

Week 3 will offer help figuring out what kind of college you want to attend. Small, large, same sex, 2 year, 4 year or setting. There are so many things to consider when deciding on a school. What is important to you? The College Success Plan gives you a helpful exercise to critique the college you choose to visit. There are questions that I might not think about until later and then I would have to call back for answers. Your teen will have everything they need in this book to answer those questions plus much more!

Finally feel confident applying to the schools you love most with Week 4. Stand out from the crowd by personalizing your application, learn what is really important on that college essay, and find out the facts on financial aid. Ms. Boyce brings her expertise and assists the individual to really succeed and help to get teens down the career course that is perfect for them! It is never too early to start thinking about the future!

    You are the main character–the voice is first-person singular: I

    –Your thoughts, feelings, reflections, and reactions are revealed.

    –There’s enough background information to understand the events in the story.

    –The reader can envision the action—can see it happening.

    –The story has a conflict and resolution.

    –You use realistic dialog: “Boy, you’re gonna be sorry” versus “You will be sorry.”

    –It’s written to sound like literature, not like reportage.
