From the award-winning creators of The Gruffalo comes a delightful story, titled Room on the Broom, about a witch and her cat. While flying on her broomstick, the wind whisks away a few of her things… Luckily, each item is found by a random animal. In return, she takes them for a ride they won’t soon forget. Especially when they happen upon a hungry dragon!

I wouldn’t dream of spoiling the ending, but I will say that Luv absolutely loves reading this story to me. She gives the silliest voices to the witch and the dragon *chuckle*

This month, Room on the Broom made its debut on DVD! Luv was delighted to add the new movie to her small DVD collection. We watched it last weekend as a special treat – we love family movie night. I recognized the witch’s voice, but couldn’t place it… It’s Gillian Anderson {from the X Files}! It is fun to see the story come to life with CGI animation.
The Room on the Broom has already earned numerous awards and accolades, including Britain’s Royal Television Award for “Best Children’s Program” and France’s Annecy Animation Festival’s Crystal Award for “Best TV Production.” It has been named “Best Animated Short” by the Toronto International Film Festival Kid’s Festival; was the “Audience Choice” at the Cleveland International Film Festival; and was the winner of the Curtinhas Competition for children’s programming at the Curtas Vila do Conde Film Festival in Portugal.

Luv’s Thoughts:
I think the movie is cool, just like the book. I like the witch’s big broomstick. It’s fun!
