With two little ones, we don’t watch all too much television or get to the theater often to see all of the latest films. More often than not, we usually end up catching the “new” movies as soon as they make their DVD/Blu-Ray release dates and I happen upon them on a store shelf. We’ve actually had this happen once more just recently with the How To Train Your Dragon film. Although we’ve seen bits and pieces from time to time and, of course, the infinite amount of clips floating around cyberspace, it was only a few weeks ago that we actually sat down and cuddled up on our couch to watch the entire movie. And, to make a long story short, we loved it! Of course, this led to my boys being enthralled with all things dragon since the second the movie ended. Now, speaking of seconds…
We’re actually on the opposite end of the spectrum this time around because, for the first time in a few years, we are actually planning on attending the opening weekend of a new film. Which one may you ask? DreamWorks How To Train Your Dragon 2 of course!

Shortly after watching the first film, I learned that its sequel is scheduled for release next week! Needless to say, our little ones were incredibly excited when I told them about it.

And, really, after watching the trailer for the second movie, they were officially sold. So much so, that we’ve actually had to add a countdown to our calendar for it. After all, how could you not want to see this?
Starring all of our favorites as well as some great new additions, How To Train Your Dragon 2 includes the likes of wonderful talent such as Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, America Ferrara, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Craig Ferguson, Kristen Wiig, and T.J. Miller. The film was directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois while being produced by Bonnie Arnold.
“The thrilling second chapter of the epic HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON trilogy brings us back to the fantastical world of Hiccup and Toothless five years after the two have successfully united dragons and Vikings on the island of Berk. While Astrid, Snoutlet and the rest of the gang are challenging each other to dragon races (the island’s new favorite contact sport), the now inseparable pair journey through the skies, charting unmapped territories and exploring new worlds. When one of their adventures leads to the discovery of a secret ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace. Now, Hiccup and Toothless must unite to stand up for what they believe while recognizing that only together they have the power to change the future of both men and dragons.”

For us, the movies in-theater release actually coincides with the end of the school year so we will be using it as the perfect way to officially kick off the start of our summer. Opening across the country and soaring into theaters on Friday, June 13th, you can purchase tickets to your nearest showing by clicking here.
