I’ve never been much of a fan of Valentine’s Day. I’m not against the holiday by any means but, for me, it’s always been just another day. We occasionally exchange a few small goodies and usually just enjoy a nice meal and movie at home as a family. It is never anything big. It is never anything extravagant. Really, I like it best that way. Over the years, my single Valentine turned into two and then into three when our children were born. As the only gal in a house full of guys, momma is a lucky lady. If you count the pets, I’m now outnumbered 6-1 so the love goes just that much farther. This year, however, is a bit different. You see, this year will be our first Valentine’s Day with our dog.

He’s our big oaf and, now, I couldn’t imagine life without him. He fits in so perfectly and, being that it is his first Valentine’s Day holiday with us, we wanted to make it a bit special. Over the winter holidays, I organized a shirt sale fundraiser to benefit his previous rescue organization in his honor but this time we wanted to do something for him… and for his friends! That got me to thinking – what is the one thing that dogs love the most? Treats! Of course!
Over the years, I’ve purchased a number of different treats for all of our animals. From my childhood pets, to our cats, and now to our dog, I’ve been no stranger to the world of pet treats. With the infinite amount of brands and products out there, there’s always been one that stood out through all of this time: Milk-Bone.

I’m sure that many of you are familiar with the
Milk-Bone brand and for good reason. Their treats are fantastic! As the first dog biscuit treat ever made in the US,
Milk-Bone finally gave pet parents across the country a little something to show their dogs how much they care. These days, the brand is a staple in many pet-filled homes and is a favorite among dogs and pet parents alike.
Milk-Bone treats have been used as a way to say “I love you” to dogs since the early 1900s and today is no different. After all, people love their pets just as much as they do people. Really, it’s true! The
research on puppy love is in and the results may surely surprise you. Did you know that 86% of dog owners tell their dog that they love them at least once a month? It’s about time that the pups get in on the Valentine’s Day action, too. This year, they can! Thanks to
Milk-Bone and the entirety of the
Big Heart Pet brand, the Valentine’s Day holiday has officially gone to the dogs.

Now, I will admit, I was a bit skeptical about the idea at first. I don’t know about your dogs but I’m pretty confident that mine can’t read. All joking aside, these Doggy Valentine Cards are entirely too cute. After recently having a day full of crafting with the kids and making Valentine’s Day goodies for their classmates, it made me wonder why no one has thought to do something for dogs prior to this fun holiday initiative. We spend so much time with our pets and they do nothing but provide us with an infinite amount of love. Sure, we give them treats from time to time but why not make it fun? With these cards, you can do exactly that.
The folks at Milk-Bone were kind enough to send me a collection of goodies from the Big Heart Pet brand line of products so the kids and I got right down to it.

Simple to put together and fun for everyone, these Doggy Valentine Cards have officially taken over our Valentine’s Day holiday. You see, we have a rule in our house about dog treats. If it were up to the kids, our dog would be getting a new treat about every five minutes. Because of that, we’ve set forth a rule that Mommy and Daddy are in charge of the treat jar. We usually don’t go through too many treats in our house so when all of the items arrived at our house from
Milk-Bone, the kids asked if we could share with our neighbors’ dogs.
That gave me an idea. Why don’t we share?
We love our dog. Our dog loves his doggy friends. All dogs love treats. Everyone loves having a Valentine. Let’s share the love!

As you can see, we had more than enough to go around. After sharing some early Doggy Valentine Cards with our friends and family and their dogs, we decided that we’d take our puppy love one step farther. Having adopted all of our pets from local rescue organizations, we wanted to share the love with them as well. This weekend, Valentine’s Day will truly being going to the dogs because we’ll be personally bringing it to them. Armed with plenty of
Milk-Bone goodies, tons of Doggy Valentine Cards, and wonderful
Big Heart Pet treats to go around, we’ll be spending our Valentine’s Day at the local Humane Society. Every dog deserves to be loved and what a better day to show your love than on Valentine’s Day?

This year, every dog will be able to enjoy Valentine’s Day thanks to
Milk-Bone and the
Big Heart Pet Doggy Valentine Card initiative.
