Arm & Hammer Detergent – final thoughts

Arm & Hammer OxiClean

This is my final post for the Arm & Hammer Plus OxiClean Power Gel Laundry Detergent. What a great month and a great product! I am still using this detergent and I love how effective it is at cleaning towels, clothes, blankets and everything else! My job is just a little easier when I have a product that helps me along the way.

One thing I have been doing more of is spraying tough stains right away, instead of waiting until they have settled. I have also asked my family members to either spray their own clothes immediately after spilling, or to at least let me know so I can do it. I have found this to be really helpful in breaking up stains before they get too ‘comfortable’ on our stuff!

Using an effective detergent is a must.  Although I like to save money, I also like to stick to products I know, love and trust.  I have found that many of the off brand detergents don’t agree on what “clean” means.  I have also discovered that most of them are so diluted that I have to use 2 or 3 times the amount that I would use with a trusted detergent.  How is this saving money?  How is it making my life easier?  It is not.  I love the tried and true!

I like my whites white and my colors vibrant.  I like my clothes to look fresh and almost new, and I have found that the right detergent can do the trick!

What are your biggest laundry problems? Have you discovered any “secrets” that you are willing to share? How about nasty stains like mustard, red wine and grass stains? Have you tried Arm & Hammer Plus OxiClean Power Gel Laundry Detergent yet? I would love to hear your thoughts!  Enter below for your chance to win a $25 Visa Gift Card!

I havent tried arm-hammer plus oxyclean yet, but would love to, I like my whites to stay white and colors bright as they were when I bought them so I plan on trying the Arm & Hammer plus oxyclean and hope it helps with some laundry issues we have

    Thanks for the great giveaway

  2. …believe it or not… Pine Sol works good on greasy work clothes… Not perfect… but still amazing

  3. My toughest laundry problem is keeping our whites bright and vibrant – they always seem to turn dingy after a few washes.

  4. My biggest challenge is stains like ball point pens, or food stains, that I don’t get told about. I still haven’t figured how to get them out. I would love to try this arm & hammer and see if it could get them out.

  5. I always make sure that I try to wash out a stain with soap and water right away when it happens to prevent it!

  6. I have tried this product several times and I LOVE it! It works great and smells fabulous.

  7. One of my biggest challenges is removing spaghetti sauce from clothes. Not from the kids’ clothes, but mine. It seems I can make spaghetti sauce without it splattering on my shirt. The only trick I’ve found is that I pretreat it, the stain usually comes out. I havent tried A&H Plus OxiClean Power Gel Laundry Detergent yet but would love to.

  8. My biggest laundry problem is keeping up with it and finding the matching pairs of socks.

  9. My biggest challenge is mud and grass stains from my boys. They love to play football with the neighborhood kids in the field next to our house. With my daughter it is food stains on her shirts.

  10. My biggest laundry challenge are oil stains What works for me is using a laundry stain remover booster in the wash and with the whites using baking soda along w/ bleach to get whites whiter!

  11. My biggest challenge is stains. We get a lot of condiment stains on our shirts so what I do is put stain remover on the clothing and let it sit for at least 24 hrs.

  12. My biggest laundry problems is my husband & children not putting their laundry in the hampers! I find dirty laundry everywhere!

  13. My biggest laundry problem these days is sunscreen stains on my son’s clothing. I don’t understand how something that goes on clear can leave a brownish stain after the clothes are washed. We don’t see the stains before washing, otherwise I’d treat them. I am happy that my son is so good about using sunscreen. I just wish it wouldn’t stain his clothes.

  14. I’ve not tried Arm & Hammer Plus OxiClean Power Gel Laundry Detergent yet. It sound like a good product, and anything with oxiclean in it works good for me. Thanks.

  15. Greasy stains give me fits. I never can get them out. When my mom was still alive, I could take any stain to her and she would work her magic and it would be gone. But not anymore. So, now I have stains.

  16. My biggest laundry problem is my boys socks. They drive me crazy & go outside with socks on only. Here is these white socks with horrible stains. I usually soak them in hot water & Arm & Hammer before washing.

    hmcnaron at gmail dot com

though I am obsessed with having any dirty clothes in the hamper.

    thanks!

  31. FOOD STAINS ARE MY BIGGEST PROBLEM AND I FIND THAT IF I PRETREAT THEM ASAP…THE BETTER I CAN GET THE STAIN OUT

  32. I honestly haven’t encountered any real laundry problems. I have a 2 year old and so we use Dreft stain remover and it works wonders when needed.
    sweetpeonies07 at gmail

  33. My laundry secret is Lestoil. I use this to get out stains. It works especially well on grease based stains.

  34. My biggest laundry problem is my little boy’s tendency to collect things in his pockets at school, and fails to empty them before throwing his clothes in the laundry basket. I try to dress him in pocketless shorts but sometimes I forget! Thank you for the giveaway!

  35. No, I haven’t tried it yet and with 4 boys there are ALWAYS stains of some sort on their clothes! Any tried and true secrets would be awesome too!

  36. Would you believe our biggest problem is keeping up with the laundry? We generally don’t have a lot of stain-related issues for some reason, but just getting it done in a timely fashion is challenging.

Also tend to have some issues with separating clothes appropriately, though this doesn’t strike too often.

  37. The worst stain I’ve had to deal with is when my husband turned the can of WD40 the wrong way and sprayed his WHITE golf cap! I have no idea how to get it out, so if anyone has a good idea I’d love to hear it.

  38. I haven’t tried Arm & Hammer w/Oxy yet, but I like A&H’s products in general.

  39. Crayons in the wash are one of my biggest problems. Thanks for the great sweeps and hope to win 🙂

  40. i have not tried this yet! and i would say that my biggest problem is my one month old has pretty bad acid reflux, so the laundry piles up pretty quick!

    jessregan29[at]gmail[dot]com

  42. I’ve not yet tried Arm & Hammer Plus OxiClean Power Gel Laundry Detergent, but I would like to

  43. I ask my kids/husband to spray stains if they can, OR tie a knot in the sleeve/pant leg to alert me to a stain that needs to be treated. The system has worked well for us! Thanks so much for offering this detergent giveaway 🙂

    Kristen

  45. I thought that the Arm & Hammer Plus OxiClean Power Gel Laundry Detergent was a little too fragrant for my liking. I like my clothes to smell clean, but NOT overpowering.

  46. My biggest laundry problem is food stains, especially oily ones. I guess that I’m a messy eater and I frequently spill something on myself while eating.

  47. To get my whites really white, I soak them in detergent, bleach, and hot water overnight to a day; run it through the cycle; and, then, wash it again immediately afterwards on detergent, bleach, and hot water.

  48. My biggest laundry problem is getting animal stains out of clothing. I good detergent and oxyclean have been my best ways to get them out.

    jlynettes @ hotmail . com

  49. I haven’t tried it yet. I will have to look into it the next time we are at Walmart. My only problem is that I don’t like to wash good clothes after washing my hubs work clothes. He can get greasy sometimes and I don’t want it to get on our clothes. I usually run an empty load and hope for the best. thank you!

  50. I have used this detergent on my husband’s work clothes and my son’s hockey clothes. Both came out smelling great.

  51. My only tip is that color-safe bleach sometimes gets out stains that nothing else will. I rub some of the bleach on the stain and put some in the laundry tub with the detergent too. Overkill, but I want that stain gone!

  52. My biggest problem with laundry is grease stains from my husband’s work clothes. These stains are never known about until he gets home from work and usually he does not tell me about them. So, I notice them when I go to wash his work clothes, meaning the stains could have been on there for anywhere from an hour to a day from when the stain hit his clothes. If this happened at the beginning of his shift, then the stain has been on there at least 11 hours. So, this has become a problem with laundry in my house.

  53. I’d say the biggest problem with my family is harsh detergents. We both have very sensitive skin so we often have to buy the “Clear” or “Free” brands and it is usually more expensive! Thanks for the entry!

  54. My biggest laundry problems are makeup stains – I use tinted moisturizer with SPF every day and, since I apply it to my neck, it gets on my clothes (usually permanantely, alas).

  55. My biggest laundry problem is when I forget towels in the wash and they get the mildew smell I cannot seem to get it out ever.

  56. My biggest laundry problem is just getting it done!!! Someday I hope to have a same-level laundry instead of in the basement!

  57. I haven’t tried Arm & Hammer Plus OxiClean Power Gel Laundry Detergent but would like to!

    Thanks!

  58. One of my biggest laundry problems is that my teenagged sons do their own laundry and don’t really care about pre-treating, or stains in general.

  59. I haven’t tried Arm & Hammer Plus OxiClean Power Gel Laundry Detergent yet…but I think I must need to! I haven’t found much of anything that helps get out the really tough stains. Sometimes Shout helps, but it never truly gets rid of the whole stain.

  60. I haven’t tried Arm & Hammer Plus OxiClean Power Gel Laundry Detergent yet. It sounds great! I hope it works on my biggest laundry stain problem–grease and oil.

  65. no secrets for me. Is there a way to lessen wrinkles in the wash? My biggest problem is finding time to do it.

  66. My biggest laundry challenge would have to be the oldies but goodies – ring around the collar and armpit stains, especially on tee-shirts and dress shirts. Try as I might I can’t quite get them out, and bleach seems to only make them worse, so I should give Arm & Hammer Plus OxiClean Power Gel a try for sure. Thanks!

  76. I haven’t tried Arm & Hammer Plus OxiClean Power Gel Laundry Detergent yet, but will check it out at the store for sure!

  77. My BIGGEST problem is keeping my whites white!
I don’t like to use a lot of bleach as it wears down the fibers but something has to give so my clothes will look like the day I had just bought them!
Going to give A&H a try:)
    Thank you for the opportunity!

  78. My only tip is to get some sort of stain wash on a stain right after it happens–don’t let it set in

    trippyjanet at gmail dot com

  79. I use Oxy Clean on all stains. I use the laundry and the one for carpets. I have tried many, many products, nothing works like Oxy Clean.

  80. My biggest laundry problem is the stench from sports clothes. I have found that adding baking soda to the wash cycle helps eliminate the odor.

  81. I am terrible at getting stains out of laundry. I even have a booklet and I can’t get anything to work.

  82. Usually my biggest problem is tomato-based stains, and sometimes I have to soak them for a day in oxi-clean, detergent and water.
    wbailey113 at hotmail dot com

  83. My biggest laundry problem is getting white socks clean on the soles.

    chrisdeglen(at)gmail(dot)com

  84. My only “secret” is that I use vinegar in the laundry, especially when I wash towels, to help freshen clothes. I don’t like scented detergent, so it’s one way to keep my laundry fresh.

  85. My biggest challenges are grass and oil stains, mostly from the kids. Not sure I’ve found any great ways to deal with them, I just try to get to it as quickly as possible.

  86. Arm & Hammer has been my detergent of choice for years. When I have stubborn stain, I make a paste with baking soda. rub it on the stain and let it sit for awhile. This works on just about everything.

  87. I haven’t tried the new Arm & Hammer yet, it sounds terrific. I’ve had some success with Tide to Go for stains. Also, seltzer!

  88. My biggest laundry problem is the bottom front of my husband’s polo shirts that he wears to work. They always seem to need to be pretreated. I guess the next shirts I buy will have to be dark colors. Thanks for the giveaway.

  89. I have not tried the Arm & Hammer Plus OxiClean Power Gel Laundry Detergent yet, but I’d love to!

mustard stains are the worst to get out lol..Hopefully that can help me!

Thank you for the chance to win!

    ajoebloe(at)gmail(dot)com

  90. One of my biggest laundry problems is that my husband tends to leave his dirty socks balled up and then they don’t get clean (or dry).

  91. My most difficult laundry problem so far has been marks from a Sharpie.
    momznite_at_yahoo_daught_com

  92. I don’t really have any challenges, I’ve just given up on certain stains (blueberries or permanent markers). Not sure if this qualifies as a tip or a trick but I know for sure that you don’t need as much detergent as the directions say and I’ve completely given up on farbic softeners a long time ago … could just not see the difference and figured, why use another chemical that gets logged in my clothes.

  93. My biggest laundry problem is (and I know this is icky, so I apologize in advance) an elderly cat who likes to get into dirty laundry basked and pee. The stains come out, but not always the smell. If someone could give ME a tip for that, I would appreciate it!

    Dara Nix
    kitty32504 at cox dot net

  94. My current biggest laundry problem is that I have a brand new washing machine and HATE it! It SQUEALS rhythmically the entire time it’s washing! It kind of sounds like the fire alarms at school!

  95. I haven’t tried Arm & Hammer Plus OxiClean Power Gel Laundry Detergent yet but hopefully it will get out marker stains that my daughter loves to make on her clothes. :/

  96. My biggest problem is baby burp up. I always looks like it is out, then weeks or months later I can see the old stain coming through.

  97. I love using lingerie bags for all kinds of things: socks, undies, things that need to be hung, things I need to check to ensure a stain is out before I dry it, etc. It makes laundry awesome!

  98. Thanks for the giveaway…our laundry secret, “Whenever possible, soak overnight !”

    senorpiero [at] yahoo [dot] com

  99. My biggest laundry challenge is the “mystery” stains that seem to appear out of the blue. Since I don’t know what they are it’s hard to find the right stain treatment.
I haven’t tried Arm & Hammer Plus OxiClean Power Gel Laundry Detergent yet but I’d like to.
