If you are going to BlogHer 11 in San Diego, you are in for a treat! I attended BlogHer 10 in New York last year, and I am super excited that it is on “my” coast this year. Although I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to New York, the humidity got the better of me.
My husband and I were in San Diego last week, and we stayed in the area around where the Convention Center and the Marriott are! It is absolutely gorgeous, and as a native Californian, I can tell you that you will not experience humidity – even in August. It will be quite warm though, so definitely bring summer clothes. I will be doing another post shortly with some tips for BlogHer 11, but this will at least give you an idea of what to expect {and it’s good!}. Here is the Marriott, and below that is a photo of palm trees. You will see LOTS of palm trees!

The convention center and Marriott are right on the water, and right by {or possibly in} the Gaslamp District. The Gaslamp district is so much fun – there are fabulous restaurants, shops and it is always busy.

Right next to the hotel, you will find Seaport Village – a quaint outdoor area with darling shops and restaurants {casual to fine dining}. There are beautiful ponds too and it is all just breathtaking. Also in Seaport Village is a carousel. If you are bringing kids with you, they will definitely enjoy Seaport Village. My husband and I spent the afternoon there and of course I took some pictures to share with you.

Oh, and there are lots of goodies 🙂

The Carousel:

Delicious seafood:

And this guy, looked like a statue. He didn’t move at all, didn’t even crack a smile. There was a bucket and if you put money in, he would dance. I hope he is there when we are in August, because I know some of you guys can make him laugh. I just know it!

And it is just so much fun!

If you are bringing a spouse {or even if you aren’t}, the USS Midway is docked right next to Seaport Village. The USS Midway is open for tours daily, although it was too late when we arrived. We did walk around the ship though, and it is quite impressive. From the hotel down to Seaport Village is a beautiful walking/jogging path right along the water. The path is lined with flowers and foliage and it is just beautiful.

Of course there are so many other things to do in San Diego – Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, downtown, and the list goes on and on. I just wanted to give you a little taste, and something extra to look forward to. I am so excited for BlogHer and look forward to meeting those of you I haven’t yet had the pleasure of meeting, and giving a big hug to those of you who I met last year.

Thanks so much for this post. It helps a lot. It looks like there is plenty to do just in walking distance. I think I might relax about tickets to stuff.
