Can you believe that it is mid-November already? With Thanksgiving already just around the corner and the stores all stocking their shelves for good ol’ Black Friday, I keep catching myself wondering where on Earth this past year has gone. Time has certainly flew by and, now, having unexpectedly welcomed our very first snow of the season, my behind has been kicked into high gear for holiday preparations. For me, organization is the key. Heck! Our movie collection is alphabetized, the children’s library is grouped by color and in order of the rainbow – “Red, orange, and yellow, green followed by blue, indigo and violet, too!” – and all of the contents in our closets are sorted by color and season.

Tease me if you will, but I can assure you that, if you’re looking for something in any of those three places, I could find it for you in a flash. And (bonus!) it looks pretty! However, when it comes to the smaller items in our house, things can get a bit, well, muddled. Tiny toys, office supplies, the garage full of tools, arts and crafts items… these things often get lost amongst the chaos. Often found shoved in a desk drawer or collected in a box of some sort, the little things in our house haven’t quite gotten the same attention as the rest of our items. One of the craziest, messiest, yet most frequented rooms in our house happens to be the children’s play room. Sure, the books are all neatly organized but the vast collection of toys is another story. We have set up a rather large shelving unit in there which houses all of their neatly displayed books but, in between these books, there are canvas bins chock full of random toys. With over a dozen bins loaded with random toys, the kids often get items mixed up come cleanup time. To help make things easier on them, the play room was our very first undertaking with our Brother P-touch PT-H100 Handheld Label Maker.

The kids had a blast helping me sort all of their goodies and choose a label design for their bins. The lettered buttons and on-screen display also made it fun for the kids to try on their own. With our youngest still mastering his alphabet, we even turned our labeling process into an ABC-search-and-find with the buttons on our PT-H100. Although the kids thought this was an exciting, crafty game of sorts, little did they know… they were actually helping us prep the house for holiday entertaining.

The PT-H100 was a breeze to use and we ended up using it to straighten up the entire play room! It was interesting to be able to browse through all of the different text, pictograph, and framing options. In the end, the little ones chose the starred frame and we’re definitely loving how it looks.

I plan on using this amazing little gadget for plenty of upcoming pre-holiday organizing and then some, for sure! I already have an infinite number of ideas strolling through my mind – labeling the drawers for our office supplies, the filing cabinet contents, the garage’s mess of tools, the kids’ art supplies, the holiday and seasonal storage, and more! For now, however, the toy room has turned out to be a wonderful start thanks to the Brother P-touch PT-H100 Handheld Label Maker.
