“I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for CVS MinuteClinic. I received promotional items as a thank you for participating.”
It’s here. Not just the holidays, but flu season.
Now, as we all know, moms don’t really get “sick days.” We could literally be on our death beds and we’d still be thinking about all of the things that need to be done; make breakfast, get the kids to school, clean the house, run errands, plan for dinner, help with homework, after school activities, bathe the kids, pay the bills, the list just goes on and on. Taking a mommy time out is next to impossible since we’re all running around like chickens without heads. When we’re sick, we still do it. Gathering up the kids and carting them off in an attempt to get them to sit quietly at OUR doctor’s visit isn’t exactly ideal either. After giving birth, we feel invincible and, surely, a little cold couldn’t bring us down… or could it?
Last year, I got the flu. After a week of putting up with (what I thought was) a horrible cold, things took a turn for the worse. Between the pounding headache, sore throat, runny nose, chills, achiness, and then some, I gave up and finally caved in. Off to the late night urgent care we went. After a misdiagnosis of possible meningitis, the panic attack that coincided, and a trip to the emergency room, I had the flu.
For the very first time in my life, I had the flu. And, long story short, it was horrible.
Ever since then, I have been adamant about reminding myself to take care of, well, myself. While we parents may not always think that we have time for such things, we do… thanks to CVS. Yes, that CVS.

In addition to, of course, being a one-stop shop for all of your cold-cough, flu, and usual wintertime essentials, many CVS locations are now home to MinuteClinic. Cleverly named, these in-store clinics provide customers the chance to take a minute out of their busy days to become the patient.

The MinuteClinic is a walk-in clinic conveniently located within select neighborhood CVS locations across twenty-eight states and DC. Open seven days a week with hours spanning into the evening, you can stop by for a visit whenever it is opportune for you to do so. And better yet, no appointments are necessary! Feel free to walk on in and get help right when you need it for all of life’s minor illnesses.

Staffed with board-certified nurse practitioners and physician assistants, the folks at each CVS MinuteClinic can diagnose, treat, and (if necessary) prescribe for a vast variety of common illnesses. Whether you’re suffering from a bothersome earache, contagious pink eye, strep throat, a wound that needs dressing, or even the inevitable flu, the CVS MinuteClinic can help you. Additionally, they offer a wide range of vaccinations for children and adults alike. Most services are available for those aged 24 months and older.

During the winter months, doctors’ offices are typically booked solid from open until close and many after-hours urgent care centers have long wait times and high costs that go along with their care. MinuteClinics accept most insurance plans and cash, check, and credit cards are always an option if necessary. The CVS MinuteClinic is a wonderful alternative for, both, treatment and convenience. Heck, they even offer sports physicals!
With our local MinuteClinic less than five minutes from our home (and our doctor’s office more than a half hour drive), you can surely bet that I will be giving it a try if needed. No more waiting around and hoping to manage through an illness any longer. This momma is going to CVS!
