See Summer in a Whole New Light When You “Discover Boating”

With Father’s Day being tomorrow and the official start of summer now only days away, the sea is calling our names now more than ever. It happens every year; as soon as the warmer weather comes back around we uncover the boat from its winter hibernation and then watch as it sits there and taunts us until it is finally warm enough to venture out onto the water.

Living along the coastline here in New Jersey as well as in Florida, boats have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Whether it was my grandfather’s old, broken down hull that sat in the yard for years, short outings on rental canoes, attempted wakeboarding craziness, ocean fishing voyages on a bigger walk-around cabin boat, wildly fun tubing trips, playful days spent on the jet skis, or even our own adventures on our back bay boat, the summer always brings me back to the water. Its serenity is so calming, its massiveness so humbling, its beauty so inspiring, its sense of wonder so intriguing, its ability to allow you to escape from reality so gratifying; I could go on for days. The beach is my happy place and the love that I have for the sea has impacted my life in so many more ways than I can count. I am so grateful to be able to enjoy every aspect of its grace from a different perspective while boating. The sense of calm that washes over you is near indescribable and I’ll never forget my first moment of discovery. How did you first Discover Boating? We all have these moments and, whether yours was found near, at, in, or on the water, the effect it can have on your soul is the same so long as we let it be.

Take country music superstar Jake Owen for example. He discovered boating as a child and the impact of it still lives on within him (and his music) to this day.

Having boating passed onto him as a child meant that the love for the water was instilled in him at an early age. And now, as a father, he has the same opportunity to share that love with his new baby daughter. What a better time to do exactly that than on Father’s Day? Just imagine… growing up around boats, enjoying your days on them, growing old with it being part of your life, and passing all of that onto your own future generations. It creates the story of a lifetime and a great one at that.

As much as I loved boats growing up, the tables have turned and it is now my turn to help my own little ones “discover boating.” Having had our own small boat for a few years now, I am thrilled to be able to now have the opportunity to partner with Discover Boating and being an ambassador for them this summer. Of course, this allows me to share all of the greatness of boating with you!

This summer, much like summers passed, we will be spending a good majority of our time out on the open water. Between relaxing boat trips to our favorite local spot and crabbing to sightseeing rides along the shoreline and fun fishing trips, we’ll be out there for one reason or another. I highly suggest you do the same. It’ll leave you with a lifetime of memories and allow for an incredible bond with family and friends.
