Pier 1 Imports Outdoor Oasis Party

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Pier 1 Imports. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and to thank me for participating.

 

As many of you know, I recently had the opportunity to begin turning our yard into a true outdoor oasis. Having only moved in this past fall, this is our first spring and summer here and that, of course, means finally being able to work on the exterior of our house. When we first moved in, the majority of our backyard was covered in a good foot or so of old, nasty, wet leaves. Knowing that it was an elderly gentleman that we purchased our house from, we chalked this up to neglect due to age but, as the days passed, we quickly learned otherwise. To put it simply, we were still raking up chest high piles of newly fallen leaves on New Year’s Day. The perfect yard that we had envisioned was shaping up to be far more work than we had originally thought. After a few months of hard work, we finally got the majority of it cleaned up just in time for a new fence installation and our son’s birthday celebration. There is still plenty more work that needs to be done to bring to life the picturesque yard that I have in mind but we’re getting there, slowly but surely.

Having now tackled bits and pieces of the kids’ outdoor play area, the flowerbed, the fruit and vegetable garden, and even trimming a few trees, one of the major hurdles that we’re facing is the lack of seating and space for entertaining. We got a couple of hand-me-down picnic tables from my in-laws but, aside from that, we have nothing but grass, dirt, and some logs. Obviously, this just doesn’t cut it. Thankfully, however, I got the chance to partner with an amazing company and was finally able to begin our yard’s true transformation into an “outdoor oasis.”

Allow me to introduce you to Pier 1 Imports.

After spending the weekend shopping at our local Pier 1 Imports store (and wishing I could buy everything!) we finally decided on some decorative pillows and a great seating choice. There were so many different furniture and decorative pieces to choose from and I really did love them all. I’m slightly convinced that the store’s employees thought I was nuts for snapping multiple pictures to be saved for future ideas. After all, the massive selection of incredible items and furnishings had me over the moon with “ooh’s” and “ahh’s” as I thought of all of the fun ways I could use each piece in our own yard. Just take a look at some of the great finds I came across:

Once we got into the store, we found a ton of great items but ultimately decided on the Papasan Outdoor Chair in Mocha.

We then paired it with the beautiful Cabana Papasan Cushion in Turquoise for a perfect match that’d offset the lush greenery found in our yard.

Did you know that Pier 1 was the first store to import the original Papasan Chair over 27 years ago? I didn’t, but I am so glad that they did because this thing is beyond incredible. Whether you’re simply lounging in the yard, curling up in the warm sunshine with your favorite book, or even just chatting it up with some great company at, say, a party, it is the perfect addition to your space.

Now, about that party…

After being a bit partied out by our son’s birthday celebration, we had some family and friends over for a smaller, more intimate Outdoor Oasis party. We brought out the basics – burgers, hotdogs, ice cold lemonade – for a picture perfect backyard barbeque. The only difference? The inclusion of Pier 1 Imports, of course! With the addition of our new outdoor furniture and décor, we finally had the makings for a spectacular space.

We flanked the papasan chair with two basic chairs that we already had on hand. Of course, it would’ve looked a bit odd if we had this amazing papasan sitting aside an otherwise boring set of plain chairs so we decided to spruce things up a bit.

With the Pier 1 Imports pillow collection, we were able to spruce up our new Papasan Outdoor Chair as well as our older chairs and pull them together as one cohesive set. The kids chose the Peacock Pillow – Yellow to be set on the new chair.

I actually loved their choice because the peacock has a special personal meaning for us but, as much as we like it, it’s often hard to find anything peacock themed without going for the cliché dark blue/purple coloring. This particular pillow took things to a whole new level and brightened up the space yet again. I absolutely adore this pillow and was amazed at how comfortable it is for being meant for the outdoors. From there, to bring the setting together once more, we picked up a pair of matching pillows to bring a little life to our older chairs. For these, we decided on the Calliope Pillows – Moss.

The new furniture and décor was a hit, the weather gorgeous, the food delicious, and the company great. In between some casual chatting and fun games for the kids, we finally had a great, comfy place to relax. This little guy slept so well here that it actually enticed his parents to head out and pick up their very own papasan chairs for, both, indoors and out!
