Ellie, Engineer by Jackson Pearce

Girls rock. They just do. That is why I am excited to tell you about a fun book that celebrates National Engineers Week and Girl Day! The book is Ellie, Engineerr, and she is one smart cookie!

Ellie and her best friend, Kit, can make just about anything. Although they are girls, and Ellie wears a tool belt on her favorite skirt when she works, that doesn’t mean they cannot build some pretty amazing things in Ellie’s backyard workshop (where she also works on her inventions!).

In the book, Ellie wants to make a special gift for Kit, since her birthday is super close! Ellie isn’t sure what gift to make until the girls happen to overhear Kit’s mom talking about her present. It is a dog that Kit has always wanted! Ellie plans to make an amazing doghouse, but her plans got a little bit too fancy. She decides to get some help from the neighbor kids. The only problem though, is that the two groups don’t really get a long very well.

This is Ellie’s biggest project yet, so she is hopeful that they can all manage to get along for this. Will Ellie be able to pull off her biggest project yet, all while keeping a secret from Kit? You’ll have to read the book to find out!

Ellie, Engineer is illustrated with Ellie’s sketches and plans, and it includes back matter with a fun how-to guide to tools. This is a STEM (and friendship-powered story) full of fun!
